Woh! Crap it's actually digital - still a painting though >-< I submitted to traditional by mistake ~ fixing that now.

I painted it in Artrage it emulates traditional paints fairly well- particularly watercolor ^^

I actually wanted to do this traditionally but it's important (a present for a loved one) so I couldn't risk ruining it in the process. I'm always terrified at accidentally dropping some water on my paintings.. I'm not sure why - I think I've only done it once. But I'm very clumsy

Wow it's incredible though! Yeah, I'm also scared of ruining the painting with water, or whatever! What I hate the most of traditional paintings : you can't go back XD

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm a little scared of the whole 'no undo' thing although I'm making it a general habit for non commercial work to never use the "undo" feature digitally so I don't get used to it.

I do think I ended up using undo on this once though. I made a major boo-boo at some point with the snow.. still don't like it! :/

If I end up too cocky I bet I'd destroy the real work without a second thought lol

Ugh... physical mistakes..
I could drop the brush.. maybe the paint could drip maybe gravity isn't my friend..
..maybe there's some unmixed paint I didn't see in the brush and it ends up with this crazy streak! >-< Terrifying!!

I generally use a building up technique to painting so it kind of flows, if I make a minor mistake I can make it part of the process fairly easily.. but those random happenings = no no no!!

Awe thank you ~!

Honestly I'm feeling kind of crappy about my work ~ I want to do better but I need a lot of time to get to a point where I'm happy with something. I don't think I've done a single thing I can say I'm really proud with enough to call it done T-T

This is a style of realism I've never done before ~ my great Grandma used to paint scenes something like this Only not as bright. Apparently she started when she was 80 or 90 but she was REALLY good.

Really? ThatΒ΄s unfortunate you are feeling that way about your work, youΒ΄re being too harsh on yourself! Your art is breathtaking.Β

Wow thatΒ΄s amazing, she must have practiced really hard! And at that age too! That really shows itΒ΄s never too late to begin art!

Awe thanks!

I really like *really* *really* intricate detail though, its my 'style' but I don't really have any good examples of it~!
I think its an obsession or something

The intricate detail I like to do isn't really rational, I just really like doing it. I like filling up a work where every single spec of it is interesting. So you can view it as a whole or zoom in and enter a new world of wonder I like to hide pictures and interesting abstracts in works sometimes.

Since I keep building up as a method of painting it looks so-so after a while but I'd actually like to take it a LOT further. It takes a lot of time and dedication.

I definitely need a bare minimum of 8 hours to finish something - 48 hours is what it would take to make a work of art I'm somewhat okay with!
I usually finish my stuff up in around 2~4 hours so it's kind of irritating for me! Still, I like my method of painting even if it's not optimal & takes more time than others

lol I'm rambling >-< anyway~ yeah my great grandmother really shocked everyone so late in life. I was fairly young when she passed away, so the situation didn't mean a lot to me at the time but thinking back it's so amazing to think that someone who had never done any sort of art in their lifetime could paint with so much dedication so late in life!

She made a lot of paintings too I think it was mostly nature scenes. I liked them. They where the kind of paintings you could see in fine art gallerys.
