Description
This was taken...whenever, back when I took those others and submitted them of Blueberry Head and Tony. Well, I'm submitting this one...cause it shows the three Stendkars (sp?) together, and it's in memory of Tony the Tiger (furthest to the right) who passed away today. T__T *sigh* I've also drawn him...and he was in that other photo I submitted, like I said. He shall be sorely missed. Also, you can't see him very well, but behind the tree...that's Victor. He also passed on recently.I'm going to see...but I don't think I ever got a good one of Pedro, who died last night...I was the saddest about him. he was my widdle baby. He was so tiny...never grew. Anyhoo, yeah, they died from parasites. I could go into details, but I won't. At least the rest are healthy now...but R.I.P. to my sweeties in fish heaven.

Thankies. Yeah, lots have died. If NONE died...since the first batch we got, I imagine we would've had actually...almost 20 discuses, and then if you count Todd (angelfish) and the other guys...well, yeah, a lot. But now we just have 10 discuses, so a lot have died over time. ;__; But in the last month, 4 or 5 have died. Tis very sad indeed, but they're doing good now...since the rest are healthy!

Aw. I'm sorry. Discus are really tough fish to raise unless you've got like, unlimited time and resources. What variety are/were they?

Thanks. Yeah, discus are very tough...expensive investments for fish! XD But my dad and I love them. :3 We have several varieties...Stendker Alenquer (sp??), blue diamond, cobalt, blue ribbon, yellow dragon, red and blue turquoises, etc. etc. Lol. The ones that died were some of those [we've had several die, unfortunately!]

That's nice, though. Hey, you learn every time, right? Me, I'm the only person in my family who's got time for fish so I stick to the easy (read: not laterally compressed) Neotropical cichlids. Anyone who knows me knows I've got a thing for little ugly brown fish
Blue diamonds are gorgeous. Have you ever seen an albino snakeskin? Hurrr *drools*

Yup yup. It takes a lot of time and effort to take good care of discus, lol. My dad and I know very well now. XD That's why he never had them in the past!
Haha, "not laterally compressed"...so true. So true. What kind of cichlids? There's lots of different types, right? We used to just have big ugly guys...haha...oscars, sevvies, you know, "durable" ones, if you will.
Yuppers. They're gorgeous. >D And as for the albino...I'm not a fan of albino kinds, but there are lots of neat snakeskin types~ Perdy indeed. <3

Time and effort and hopefully tap water that doesn't come out with a pH of 8 when you turn on the faucet. That's my main problem, since I use a Python for water changes and can't really change the pH of the water until it's in the tank. Phooey.
Not very interesting types. Pink convict cichlid (literally from Petco, which means the poor guy is probably at least part hybrid, but considering his heritage he's pretty gorgeous), and a Bolivian ram, along with a few other fish - not all in the same tank.
I almost got an oscar, once. They're like the bulldogs of cichlids - big and ugly but affectionate. Severums are pretty neat fish, too. But, alas, the confines of space and floors that may or may not support seventy-five gallon tanks restricted me.

Well, we're lucky since we have a well...and the water that comes out of it is just about perfect for discus. :3 That sucks about your water...and yeah, Pythons are very useful for water changes! Except since you have to do a little more work to get the ph right. :/ That sucks.
Petco...has fish with problems, lol. And yeah, you never quite know what you're getting! XD But as long as you love them. ;3 We had some rams, but the one died...probably cause of shock, and the other one was always chasing around our discuses, so yeah. We gave him away. >>
I don't like oscars, lol. And they SO wouldn't go with our tanks now, so I'm glad we haven't tried to get any again. XD My dad loved them, and my brother wants them...but I don't want them near the discus! Aww, so you have a small area to work with then? I imagine so. Boo. We have a 55 gallon tank for most of the discus, and then a 10 gallon for mics platys, guppies, betta, and the one discus (Knuble) who's a bit too aggressive for the other tank, lol. He's a problem fish. XD But I wub him. <333 He just doesn't get along with the others...:/

Aha, the magical mysterious well. I envy you that . Yeah, that's the main problem with Pythons. Luckily all of my fish come from so many captive bred generations they could probably put up with anything. It's usually at a constant 7.3 - 7.4 (driftwood in the tank), though sometimes it drops slightly.
Haha. "Problems" is a nice way of putting it. Sometimes I peruse the one near-ish my house, and not only did they sell "assorted African cichlids" but they'd mislabeled a pleco as a pothole catfish 0.o I wanna know how that could possibly happen.
Oh God, oscars with discus . That would be so funny. And eventually fatal, yeah, but entertaining the thought of it is pretty funny. But yeah, I think you kinda have to pick. It's like being a cat person or a dog person.
Yeah, I've got a pretty small area. I started with this little 10-gallon, managed to get an ever smaller 6-gallon, and finally saved up enough for the 25.
Hang on, you've got platys, guppies, a betta, and a discus all in the same tank? That must look so funny! Talk about an unexpected mix .
Ah, the problem fish. I used to have one of those. Originally I had two convict cichlids, but the one I thought was female was also male (they were really small at the time) and got beat up, so I had to return him...and now the one that beat that one up is pretty much the biggest scaredy cat you'll ever meet.

Yup, it's rather troublesome to have a well for most things...but jeez, it's amazingly perfect for our tanks! ^_^ Lucky!
I wouldn't ever want to see oscars and discus together. >> I wouldn't want my precious discus dears to be eaten...but that's what my brother would like to see. Sadistic and cruel. *shakes head*
Well, 25 gallon is pretty good!! You gotta deal with what you can get! So compared to the other tiny ones you got, 25 is spacious~
Yeah, it's an odd mix...not to mention that the gravel we have is hot pink! Lol. One discus, one betta, and then the other little guys...I didn't want the tiger barbs, that's for sure. They're always nipping at the betta's tails. They used to do that to Knuble (the discus), but now he just chases them all around. He's a tough cookie, lol. Can't get along with any fish. XD I wish he could be in the nice big tank with the other guys, but he doesn't behave!! Fish counseling is needed. Lol. Convict cichlids...aww, you had to return one? That sucks, but sometimes you gotta do that. We had to bring one of our discus, Bossman, to this fish place cause he was even more aggressive than Knuble...they put him in a display tank, not to be sold...but lo' and behold, the next time we went, they sold him. >> I don't blame him. He was a lovely white diamond. I miss him...even the jerks I miss!
