just thought of sharing the 'how-i-did-it' of the MSN-04 Sazabi with u guys
so here we go:-
-get some references photo
-trace with tablet (brush setting is set to pen pressure on 'shape dynamic' and 'other dynamic')
-create a new layer mask for the lineart (invert the layer mask and fill the layer with black)
-fill the base colour (underneath the layer mask)
-apply shading on a 'multiply' layer above the base
-add lighting on 'screen' layer above the shading
-colour the layer mask (or the 'new' lineart if u prefer) with the same but slightly darker colour to let the line 'blend' smoothly with the rest of the colour
-finally add some curve and gradient map to finish it
random notes:
-for shading and lighting, i use gradient and smudge tool rather than just using the brush
-after the 'layer mask' process, you might just want to delete the original lineart as it is useless
