Description
I've been learning Maxon's Body paint over the past couple weeks, and finally got something out of it (which I then rendered in Mental Ray). Anyway, here's my firsts color tesst for the 3d Dragette... been a LONG time coming. I'm not completely happy with it, but I AM completely happy I have *something*.Anyway, I'll be posting various color variations in the coming days (all using poison arrow frogs for inspiration). Hope you enjoy it.

How did you get the glossy effect so smooth? It's really awesome XD

well... most of that highlight is just a reflection of a white disk placed outside of camera. There's also another point light in the scene. The two sources (one of which, the disk) is very large, and the two put together give a double highlight... which kinda gives that auto-paint glossy feel. It's actually just a blinn (sorta like phong) shader.

Ah yes, I like this camouflagelike patterns. Especially because there are actually dragonflys who have such patterns. It looks a bit (just a bit) too glossy (like a frog). But thats not bad.

I'll probably turn the siny down a little bit, or mitigate it with some bump. I have a whole mudbox pass which I haven't had time to integrate yet .... man this thing is turning out to be more work that I bargained for.
