It is the first macroscopic animal species to evolve on the alien planet.

Its bristles have formed bridges of skin and are used as fins. They don't paddle but make its body broader so that it doesn't use as much energy just trying to keep itself afloat. They can also turn and rotate to allow it to change direction.

It has a white coating over its top surface which helps deflect harmful light and radiation.

They have become partially omnivorious since they are unintentional canabals. When they spawn up in the spongy algae on the surface of the water they instinctively move to a new location afterwards. This is because when they eat the spongy algae, they accidentally eat eggs and larvae too. Moving away ensures they don't eat their own young, but there is still a likelyhood of them being eaten by another adult. Despite this, many offspring still manage to survive due to high numbers.
