--------------------

NAME: Andrew Delgado Keown / Amon

ALIAS: Amon / The Red Scorpion / Bug Boy

SEX: Male

AGE: Age 15 at the start of the series

HEIGHT: 5 ft

WEIGHT: 50lbs

ETHNICITY: Hispanic of Salvadoran descent / Genetic Hybrid (Scorpion DNA Infused)

OCCUPATION: High school student by day, vigilante by night

BASE: Sundown City, Argos Tower

FACTION: Amon hesitates to say that he is a hero, and often refers to himself as a monster. Public opinion of him varies. But through his actions, he proves to be a hero, even if he doubts himself.

CLASS: Typically Amon operates as a Street Level Hero, but he is constantly pitted against greater world-threatening villains and monsters.

POWERS:

Superhuman Strength: Amon is strong enough to lift an estimated 10 tons. Although depending on the situation, and how desperate he becomes, he could lift to more astounding degrees.

Superhuman Durability: Amon is able to tank attacks without taking damage, from gunshots to oncoming speeding buses. There is a threshold for his durability, however, and he prefers to evade attacks if it can be helped.

Superhuman Speed: Amon is fast enough to dodge bullets and lighting, and chase down speeding cars and motorcycles. His reaction time is effectively fast as well.

Superhuman Agility: Amon is able to leap from building to building and use the city skylines for travel. With both his speed and agility, he is virtually untouchable for normal humans.

Healing Factor: Amon’s healing factor is among the most powerful ever recorded. The speed in which the healing factor works depends on the severity of the injury. He can heal cuts and wounds in seconds, while missing pieces of his body take longer. This healing factor is put to the test time and again.

Claws, Fangs & Tail: Inherited by the scorpion DNA, Amon is able to unsheathe black claws and external fangs from his each sides of his mouth, as well as instantaneously grow a six-segmented scorpion tail with a sharp stinger at the end. The claws, fangs and stinger can shred through steel like paper, and the tail is powerful enough to dent armor and send cars flying. Is is most effective in knocking back hordes of enemies in a single swing. When regressing into a human state, these pieces fall off and disintegrate naturally, leaving no trace.

Hyper Senses: Amon’s sight, hearing, sense of smell, touch and taste are all heightened. This proves useful for hunting down enemies, chasing after missing people and responding to cries for help and sounds of violence.

Territorial Senses: Amon has a unique ability to sense when an abnormal presence is in his territory, which is usually the entirety of Sundown City. The abnormality is a figure or group that has superpowers or highly advanced weapons. This also acts as a danger warning when a threat is nearby or taking action in the moment.

Red Acid: Arguably his deadliest ability, Amon is able to instantly produce and spew out a red liquid from his mouth that is highly corrosive. It can melt virtually anything. Excessive use of it does threaten to harm his own body.

Corrosive Fire: A more powerful attack that ranges the length of 40 feet, Amon is able to produce the chemicals that create his Red Acid, but instead of using it for the acid, he breathes it out and lets the chemicals ignite in the air, creating a powerful stream of fire that combusts with anything it touches. It is extremely deadly but also detrimental to Amon’s own cellular structure, which limits its usage.

Willpower: Amon’s greatest ability is his own stubbornness in a fight. He refuses to break or give up until everyone is saved or avenged. He sinks to the lowest lows only to climb the highest peaks, and it is through his willpower that he is able to endure more pain and damage than his mutated body is designed to, as well as resist mind control after first exposure.

EQUIPMENT:

Grappling Hook Bracelets: Designed by Melanie Ellis, these bracelets will eventually replace Amon’s original bracelets, which he used for defense and parrying. Melanie’s bracelets allow for Amon to swing across the city and use them as last second lifelines should he fall from great heights in a city.

TRANSFORMATIONS:

Andy Keown/Amon/The Red Scorpion: After the initial transformation, Amon’s former human state with brown eyes is now a form of camouflage. His true form is of that with red irises and a red tone on his jet black hair. The form he undergoes as The Red Scorpion with the external fangs, claws and tail can also be viewed as being his true form and his red irises form as an intermediate state. There is no struggle to keep his human forms, though his full strength and capabilities are only accessible in The Red Scorpion form.

The Black Scorpion: Eventually, Amon’s body undergoes a mutation. In this state, Amon’s body is ripped apart as an exoskeleton bursts out. He stands larger, with four arms, a maw covered in razor sharp teeth, a longer and more powerful tail, coated in a nigh impenetrable black exoskeleton. In this state he is more dangerous and violent, and unable to differentiate between friend and foe.

Aerial Amon: A mystically endowed state, Amon inherits the divine power of the extinct Aerial race through a ritual. In this state he loses his fangs, his hair and tail becomes completely red, his irises glisten gold, and he sprouts bright red angelic wings that bestow him the ability to fly. He is able to fire mystical energies from his hands and tail, and develops the strength to match those of the mightiest beings in the universe. For all intents and purposes, he is a Planet Buster. This form can only be bestowed once…

WEAKNESSES:

Myrandium: A crystalline object that produces a very specific type of energy, Myrandium was created after the first successful hybrid created by The Shadow Organization to weaken any and all Genetic Hybrids. It strips them of their strength and stamina, leaving them vulnerable and susceptible to all manners of injury and pain, with any healing factors diminished. If exposed to it for a significant amount of time, a Genetic Hybrid will die. With extended periods of time, Myrandium is capable of becoming deadly not just to Genetic Hybrids, but to all lifeforms.

Sensory Overload: Amon’s heightened senses can be used against him. Auditory attacks, such as using very specific high frequencies, can disorient him and even bring an abundance of pain.

VOICE ACTOR: Robbie Daymond (Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Marvel’s Spider-Man, 2017))

HISTORY:

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Juan Delgado had aspirations since moving from El Salvador with his high school sweetheart Eva Fuentes to America, in pursuit of great careers after graduating from an American university. But once they conceived their first son Antonio during sophomore year, their dreams would be shattered. While facing prejudice in the university, they were not offered any help and had no choice but to drop out of the university. They got married and in order to support the family they had to take menial and demeaning jobs that paid very little. Their love would crumble into loathing and disdain for each other, their child, and themselves. It only grew more vile when then had their second son 10 years later.

All little Andy Delgado knew was fear and hate. He never experienced love from his abusive and violent alcoholic father, nor from his distant and broken mother, and not even from his apathetic older brother Antonio Delgado. Out of sheer terror from the wrath of his own father, and knowing that neither his mother or brother would protect him, Andy was silent throughout his childhood. In elementary school he made no friends, and he kept himself in the corner, away from the notice of teachers and counselors, who were just as uncaring as his brother. Andy was never loved as a child.

On a rare occasion, Andy would be comforted by a single bedtime story his mother would tell him. A story of a monster named Amon, and how it terrorized her home country, until one day the monster saved it from even greater forces of evil. Even at such a young age, Andy understood that his mother did not believe in heroes or in the forces of good. She only recognized the forces of evil, some greater and some lesser. It was an unbearable understanding of where her mind and soul was by this time in her life. Something a child shouldn’t even be aware of, let alone think about.

Eventually, Eva would be pregnant once more, this time with a girl. For the first time, both Juan and Eva seemed the happiest that Andy and Antonio had ever seen them. And for a moment they thought things would change. They thought their family would grow strong and loving. But they would only know more pain and tragedy, as the unborn child was lost. Eva grew more distant, her rare bedtime stories no longer told anymore. She refused to eat. She just sat at the edge of the bed, allowing herself to wither away. And Juan fell deeper into drinking and became more violent and abusive, now having to work twice as hard to support his family.

By the time Andy was 7 years old, his brother Antonio had run away from home at the turn of his 17th birthday. And while his brother hardly exhibited any form of care or love for Andy, he was still a comforting presence, someone who shared the pain from the cruelty of their father and the coldness of their mother. Now Andy was the only child, and for the following two years he would know only solitude and isolation. He would truly become familiar with loneliness by the age of eight, when his mother finally passed away.

What followed was the overwhelming hatred of a man who could only focus it on one singular person. And a mere child had no means of defending himself from the towering and imposing monster that should have been his guardian and teacher, but resorts to being the source of his pain and terrors. One stormy night, on his 9th birthday, Andy would attempt to run away. He barely walked out of the door when he heard his father scream after him! Andy would run as fast as he could across the filthy hallways of the rundown apartment building, screaming and crying, mortified at the mere thought of what his father was intent on doing to him! His cries were heard by the people in the apartments, but none lifted a finger. Andy managed to leave the building, hoping the darkness and rain would obscure him, but his father was right behind him. Andy slipped and fell, face first. He turned around and cried, begging his father not to hurt him. Juan leapt towards the horrified child just as a car struck the man, the driver unable to see due to the storm! In an instant, Juan Delgado was gone.

Now he was without family and without home. Andy was completely alone.

Shortly after his father’s passing, Andy was taken to an orphanage. During his time spent there he isolated himself from the other children. He was silent and cold, almost apathetic to the world. He would hear the other children and teenagers talking rumors about a demon that stalks the children of the orphanage and kidnaps them to feed on their souls. He brushed off those rumors as stupid scary stories that he found to be meaningless. He knew true horror in the form of his father’s visage. The look of rage and hatred haunted him every night. After a month of keeping himself away from other people, Andy would be visited by a woman, with hair as gold as the setting sun, emerald green eyes, and the warmest smile he had ever seen. For the first time since hearing his mother’s rare bedtime story, Andy felt something good. Something positive. Something… Warm.

Eventually Andy would be adopted by Olivia Keown, a widow with a 16-year-old daughter. Having lost her husband, Olivia had experienced similar pain as Andy. However, while Andy had always remained unsure of how he should feel about the passing of his cruel parents, Olivia’s was a more somber experience. Beatrice Rose Keown, on the other hand, was dealing with the loss of her father in a self-sabotaging manner. Henry Keown was a soldier who died in the line of duty, which led to Beatrice unable to cope with the cruel world beyond her. For a good man who always did the right thing to die and the evil men to escape and continue their malevolence, it left Beatrice in a state of anger towards everything.

Under Olivia’s care, Andy started to become familiar with the virtues of the Keown family. Compassion and love was more prevalent in the household, and the strength of will and wisdom that Henry had exhibited was present in Olivia’s words and actions. It was enough to inspire Andy to try and help Beatrice, whom he had noticed was crossing more lines by the day with her destructive behavior. Beatrice was skipping school, drinking, smoking, and hooking up with an older boy who dropped out of school for a shadier life. One afternoon, Andy noticed Beatrice sneaking out of the house to hook up with one Marcus Cobalt, prompting the young boy to chase after her. Beatrice was annoyed with her newly adopted brother and tried to dismiss him, but Andy was adamant that she stay home, safe and sound for her mother’s sake and her own. When Marcus tried to shove Andy back, the child lost it and instinctively bit the young man’s hand like a wild animal! Marcus lashed out, knocking the child back. Seeing all of this, Beatrice, yells at Marcus, telling him to back off and go away. Despite the frightening display of violence from the child, she still helps Andy up, and returns to her home with him.

Seeing Andy trying to protect her had snapped Beatrice from the shock she had endured since her father’s passing. She reconciled with her mother, cleaned up her behavior and became more studious. She grew closer to Andy, and the two would often play games together and banter. One night she would ask Andy about his biological family, to which he refused to talk about, save for one thing. He told her about the one bedtime story that his mother would occasionally tell him. Learning about the monster from his mother’s story, and remembering how Andy bit Marcus like an animal, or like a monster, Beatrice attributed the monster’s name to Andy. She would give Andy the nickname Amon.

Amon would get to know more of The Keown Family. He would meet Olivia’s mother, a short bespectacled lady who was kind and sweet to Beatrice and Amon, but would humorously poke at Olivia. He would befriend their neighbor’s pet dog, a golden retriever named Bella. Eventually they would adopt a pet cat of their own and name him Felix. While Amon didn’t make any friends in the last two years of elementary school, he had the two animals to keep him company in the front yard of the house, and a loving adopted family. He would still refer to Olivia as Mrs. Keown, as a sign that he didn’t want to get to close too her, though he still revered her.

On one weekend, Olivia had to travel, and Beatrice had to take care of Amon while Olivia was away. Beatrice invited her high school best friend, the Japanese-American Yuuna Shizune, to hang out with them. Yuuna and Amon would get along well, to the point where Yuuna would be trusted to look after him on occasion when Olivia and Beatrice were both busy and out of the house. Shizune would be Amon’s very first crush, and in one afternoon when he accompanied Beatrice to her high school, Amon would actually confess his feelings for her. Naturally, Yuuna didn’t reciprocate his feelings, but she encouraged him to continue to be the good hearted and kind person that he was. She promised him that he would find the right girl for him some day.

In another afternoon, again visiting Beatrice in her school, Amon noticed that Yuuna was being accosted by her track field coach. He would tell Beatrice about it, and the two would find Yuuna and her coach alone on the track field. Sensing the highly uncomfortable situation, Beatrice and Amon would move in to help. They were able to pull Yuuna away but she begged them to not tell anyone. She was afraid of the problems that could arise for her parents. Beatrice, much to her frustrations, acquiesced to Yuuna’s request. Still, Beatrice accompanied Yuuna every afternoon to ensure that nothing happened. Unfortunately during one week Beatrice would get sick and stay home. Concerned for Yuuna, Beatrice would ask Amon to head to her school and check on Yuuna in the afternoon. Amon would do so once his school day was over.

He would find Yuuna being harassed by her coach and stepped in immediately. Without the boisterous Beatrice around, the coach assumed that a little show of aggression would scare the boy into keeping quiet. But seeing Yuuna in this situation was more than enough for the boy. Once again, Amon would resort to reacting violently, biting down on the coach’s arm! Yuuna screamed in fright as the child tried to tear the flesh off of the coach! The coach would backhand him, sending the child flying, but much to his and Yuuna’s surprise, Amon would get back up and lash out again! The boy was relentless in his attack, and all the commotion would catch the attention of the other faculty members that were in the school. Yuuna would find the courage to tell them and her parents about the coach’s advances, and the man would be arrested. While she thanked Amon for coming to her rescue, she grew worried and even fearful of him. Not many people could say that they have seen a 10-year-old child behave so violently, even in an attempt to protect a loved one.

After that incident, Amon would remain docile, at the request of Olivia, who promised him that if he ever saw trouble he should tell her first and she would deal with it. It was the job of the adults to protect the children. It was not the responsibility of an even younger child to do it. But a part of her was proud of Amon for stepping up. Eventually Beatrice and Yuuna would graduate high school while Amon progressed from elementary school to middle school. Yuuna would travel to another state to begin her journey towards working in the medical field. Beatrice would study in a community college and meet David Lawrence, a young man studying to be a police officer.

In a new school setting Amon hoped to make friends. However, he found it difficult to do so when he met a group of popular kids a grade above him. He developed a crush on the most popular girl, Tiffany Vale, and tries to earn her affection for the following two years. He was often was the victim of bullying from both the school bullies led by Rory  and ridicule from the popular group consisting of Tiffany, Sally Mason, Linda Evans, Gary Traveller, Michael Vincent and Tyrone Morgan. Because he swore to Olivia to never do anything violent, he simply endured the punishments. And not wanting to worry his adopted mother, he kept everything that happened in school to himself. The first year of middle school was rather difficult for him with the mistreatment of his classmates and the unrequited crush. The summer after the first school year would lift his spirits when Beatrice would return home and the two would spend time together. While he wasn’t enthusiastic about David, he grew to tolerate him. David would earn Amon’s respect and affection over time.

The start of the second year of middle school wasn’t any different than the first year. Amon was still spurned by Tiffany, and her friends constantly mocked him for his efforts. He still wasn’t able to make any friends due to the notorious nature of being the primary victim of bullying and disdain from the popular clique. However, on one week where Halloween was taking place, Olivia had to visit a sick cousin, and Amon accompanied her to a quaint town, Santa Esperanza. It was here where he would make his first friend, Lucas Chapman, who would lead him into small adventures across the town. Eventually they would dare go into a supposed haunted house. While in the haunted house, they would run into a girl named Janine Harper.

While both Amon and Lucas were outcasts of their respective schools, Janine was a popular and intelligent girl who went to an all girls preparatory school. She was secretly fascinated by the spooky legends of the town and wanted to investigate the several hauntings. The three kids would spend the week looking into the ghostly mysteries of the town, and while they never concretely found any supernatural phenomena, they did find old journals and diaries in the haunted house as well as a locket and other materials. On Halloween the three had an adventure across the town during the night, and it was a night to remember. After the week was over, Olivia and Amon had to return to Sundown City, much to Amon’s disappointment. For one week he had friends who brought him much joy and excitement. It was a week that he would never forget, and the three would promise to keep contact with each other through texts and social medias.

The rest of the school year went by similarly to the previous year. An unrequited crush, taunts from the kids he wished to befriend, being picked on by the larger students, and no one to sit with during lunch. At least he had his friends from another town, two friendly animals to keep him company after school, and in the coming summer he would get to hang out with Beatrice and her boyfriend. But to everyone’s surprise, an offer was made to Amon. Because his test scores throughout the past two years were shockingly impressive and the highest the school has ever gotten, Amon was offered the chance to skip several grades and enter high school. While unsure of himself at first, Amon was willing to skip the 8th grade and jump into 9th, with support from Olivia. Amon got to participate in the ceremony alongside his upperclassmen, much to the annoyance and frustrations of his detractors. Even worse still, he would attend the same high school as them.

At the age of 13, during freshmen year, Amon still found it nearly impossible to make friends. High school was an even more socially cutthroat environment, at least during the first year. His pursuit of Tiffany was still present, but it was becoming more infrequent. During this school year Amon started to lose interest in socializing with anyone. Whenever the popular group taunted him, it was static noise to him. When his bullies pushed him around, he was numb to it all. It was as if he had become blind and deaf to the world around him. He even developed a small rivalry with one Chester Gillan, who was a fellow victim of bullying. But through his sheer arrogance and superiority complex Chester was able to endure his own dealings of suffering.

By the middle of the school year Amon was enduring a self inflicted isolation, accompanied by the familiar sensation of fear and sorrow from his childhood. The memories of his biological family began to surface and haunt him during his nightmares and daydreams. Olivia grew concerned for Amon as he was even reluctant to talk to her and her relatives. He was more distant, more quiet, more alone than ever. His only reprieve during the school year was on Valentine’s Day, when he found an anonymous love letter in his locker. However, his bullies would make fun of him for it, and come up with absurd ideas about who the secret admirer was. The popular clique would further worsen his experience, and the rest of the students around them stared at him in judgement and mockery. It soured what would have been a single day of happiness for him, and it just further pushed him into numbness.

By the end of the school year Amon found his spirits lifted as he was able to see his older sister more consistently. Beatrice was the only person able to get through to Amon during this period in time. During the summer she and David would invite him to movie nights, quelling his concerns about being a third wheel. Beatrice’s company was a constant reprieve from the echoing voices of his dead father and mother for those three months. But when summer was over and Beatrice returned to college, and Amon was left to confront the demons that took shape of his own flesh and blood.

Sophomore year was the time when he had completely cut himself off from the world. Tiffany was no longer the beautiful girl of his dreams. Her friends no longer the school celebrities he had viewed them as. The bullies gave up bothering him, as his emotionless endurance brought no satisfaction to them. He and Chester tolerated each other’s presence on group assignments. Amon no longer contacted Lucas and Janine. He would barely notice Bella’s barks when he came home. For the entirety of his second year of high school, Amon was in the cold, in the dark, alone and unable to smile or cry. The gruesome grip of his parent’s hatred had finally took hold of him. Even professional therapy couldn’t help him. Beatrice graduated and moved in with David, but the two of them still visited Olivia and Amon in an attempt to be there for the teenage boy. The older sister who could always connect with the lonely child was now unable to reach through to him, and it hurt her knowing that there was nothing she could do. The silent and haunted Amon would push everyone away and coil himself, allowing the worst memories to play in his mind and torment him for the whole summer.

At the start of junior year Amon turned 15 years old. Still haunted by his past with his biological family, Amon would progress through the first month as he had done for the past two years. One afternoon, a week away from homecoming, Amon was sitting at the mall, alone. When the sun had begun to set, he left the building and prepared to walk home. It was then that he saw a speeding car that was out of control and about to hit a woman in the middle of the road.

Amon jumped and pushed her out of the way just as the car reached that very spot he was on…
