Description EDIT2:

Yea, I understand that making art isn't going to physically help anyone.

But you know, if I was hit by a tsunami and an earthquake, and then continue to have nuclear toxins released in the air, I would hope people would care.

I'm sorry that I don't have money to donate.
I'm sorry to all the people in Japan who need those donations.

But to those who can, please donate. I'm not going to preach about it, but if you can, please do. If not, then just do what you can.

donation links[more OFFICIAL links will be added];

ENGLISH- Japanese red cross[through Google, the official Japanese Red Cross page is in Japanese]; [link]

Text message "REDCROSS" to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

American Humane Association- [link]

Save The Children- [link]

Citizen Effect- [link]

World Vision- [link]

EDIT:
So, I woke up this morning. Got on the computer to DeviantART to see 307 messages.
and I figured it was from someone going upload crazy.

BUT NO.
INSTEAD
HOLY COW. A DD.
Thank you SOO much to for suggesting it and for featuring it!

Yes, I understand that other places were affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Honeslty, I don't know the situation in the other countries. How bad they need help, if they have the supplies they need. But Japan was hit the worst, and I did not mean to display ignorance toward the other countries affected.

I apologize if people were offended.

[/EDIT]

better days are coming for you, Japan.

I'm sorry for anything that's incorrect in Japanese! I used Google Translator and we all know how accurate that thing is..

i am SO freaking sick of these people who constantly comment on these "Pray For Japan" pieces of art saying

"OH I DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD AND I DON'T PRAY SO PRAYING WON'T DO ANYTHING AND YOU ARE ALL WASTING YOUR TIME HURPDURP."

just shut the hell up.
i typed up 70 words you could use in place of "pray"

so i hope you all can come up with something better to say than "I'm atheist or whatever and don't believe in god."

love
believe
hope
pray

whatever you want.
just do it.

Well, really, is unfair that DD. "Love for Japan" bah, several people can take that "help" of you like a oportunism but wherever.

At least you put a link for red cross, good with that.

This is beautiful darling, honestly.
Also people complaining about the word pray is pathetic.
Yes I do believe in God, but like all I have questioned my beliefs and in those times I never stopped praying.

Praying doesn't have to mean you pray to God, or Buddha or any other Higher power people believe in.
It can be something you do just to feel a sense of power and strength within yourself.

One of my favorite lines from any song is "Pray to a God that I don't believe in"
You don't have to believe in God to believe in the power or prayer.
You can pray to yourself for all I care<3

and for all the Satan worshipers out there and such I'M GONNA PRAY FOR JAPAN.
Lol

Anywho darling this is a wonderfully done piece.
Congrats on one of the most well deserved DD's I've seen in awhile.

I'm frigging sick of coments like these.

What if they don't have enough money to donate?
Not everyone's rich, not everyone has their own money to do their own thing.
Sometimes it can be only displayed in art. And I honestly think all of these pictures about Japan are more of an emotional release to the artist making these.
At least they have the heart to care.

Don't send such negativity to a sweet picture like this.

MiniCinnamon In reply to midnightSILENCE-x [2011-03-27 00:24:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh, you are sick of this sort of comments?
Well, I'm SICK of this stupid kind of pictures.
You might claim it's sweet, it's actually much of a hypocrite to even pose this kind of importance towards Japan. If there was as much concern as trying to show, the economical situation of such person would not be a problem to donate EVEN 2 dollars, or something of the sort!
This kind of pictures help Japan in no way, nor does praying or positive thinking, actions is what moves the world. So leave that stupid childish attitude behind and face the truth; this kind of pictures is simply ridiculous.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

midnightSILENCE-x In reply to MiniCinnamon [2011-03-27 00:39:10 +0000 UTC]

I do agree, the pictures are getting old as well.
They're getting plastered all over the front pages, and most of them are pretty much all alike.
But I will say this, regardless. Atleast they bother to care about the disaster that struck Japan.
And even though they may be making art about this, does NOT mean they haven't given donations.
And what if they haven't? They may not have enough money to do things like these.
Depending on the situation, the best think to do is get your message of support out there.

I WILL NOT SAY THAT I THINK YOU SHOULDN'T DONATE. Not whatsoEVER.
If at all possible, you should.
But the fact that this piece isn't simply money doesn't mean they need so much hate.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

MiniCinnamon In reply to midnightSILENCE-x [2011-03-27 00:46:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, of course, the fact that they did some picture doesn't mean they haven't donated, but ask most of them, and they'll just say "No, I have not, but I left a few links here & there to support the cause."
If they really cared, like I said, even a little grain of sand would help Japan, instead of doing stupid and vain artworks.

Oh, don't worry, I don't hate them, I wouldn't hate on something as trivial.

midnightSILENCE-x In reply to MiniCinnamon [2011-03-27 01:02:36 +0000 UTC]

But then, you don't know that artist personally either and know their living situations.
Like I said to elendraug, people put themselves before strangers. That's how everything works.

MiniCinnamon In reply to midnightSILENCE-x [2011-03-27 01:47:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, obviously that's the case, but I don't see why to fake such interest about helping Japan when you don't start doing so yourself.

elendraug In reply to midnightSILENCE-x [2011-03-27 01:12:50 +0000 UTC]

If they're so open about not giving a fuck about strangers, it just serves to further our point. People drawing these pictures don't actually give a shit about Japan's suffering, or they'd be quietly donating instead of making a big fuss on DA.

hurrrrrrrrrrrrr

And what if they haven't? They may not have enough money to do things like these.

Anyone on their computer, presumably one in their house, with internet access, likely in the fucking United States, can afford to goddamn donate five dollars. Don't feed me this bullshit line that they can't afford it. If you don't know where your next meal is coming from, then yes, you can't afford it. If you don't have a credit card, ask your parents to donate on your own behalf.

Pony up a few bucks, and then we'll talk about who's helping, and who cares about people suffering.

midnightSILENCE-x In reply to elendraug [2011-03-27 01:02:35 +0000 UTC]

May sound rude, but put your own health before strangers'. I have a friend whose mom spends half her money on cigarettes and she can hardly buy anything that's even 5 dollars. She needs to keep herself steady, too. Unless you expect everyone to be fucking princesses and put other people before themselves, then go with your own stupid theory.
But you know, it's not always like that.

Just because they may lack donations doesn't mean they don't give a shit.

Personally, I'd feel like they're mocking about my situation.

The age is not relevant here, and let me tell you, I'm way too smart than you, at least I can realize it's stupid to support via drawings lol

To a certain extent it would help.
Promote awareness about the situation etc., etc.
I personally wouldn't care as much as long as I was in somebody's thoughts.
That's the kind of person I am. -Shrugs-

And oh, you think you're smarter than me? Really?
I don't think it's stupid whatsoever but thoughtful of them to at least bother giving an effort to make this showing their support.

But whatever. We're different people with different opinions.

NystagmusAlbino In reply to midnightSILENCE-x [2011-03-27 00:32:04 +0000 UTC]

Well, being smart doesn't mean I must care and cry about this situation, I just see the things as they are and the real thing is that you can't help with a pretty picture.

I'm sure they could come up with five goddamn dollars if they honestly cared. Their parents don't give them an allowance? They don't have lunch money? If they took the money from one fucking frappuccino and gave it to the Red Cross, it'd be better than just drawing a picture and feeling good about it.

KwehCat In reply to elendraug [2011-03-27 00:57:47 +0000 UTC]

Some people don't get an allowance. I don't know about where you are, but here the schools have to give free lunches to low-income families because there are people around here who honestly do not have the money to give to their children for lunch. And there is only one place in town to get a frappuccino and it gets so much business I'm surprised that they are still even open.

KwehCat In reply to elendraug [2011-03-27 01:15:20 +0000 UTC]

You're right- they probably aren't wanting to be applauded for drawing. One of my friends is on the Free Lunch program and has a DA she gets on using the school internet. She posts art like this from time to time for some cause or another, but she doesn't do it for the attention. She does it so she can do something, no matter how small, rather than just sitting on her thumbs all day. Seeing pictures like this keeps a subject relevant. If something is everywhere, people are less likely to forget about it.

And trust me, breast cancer is not bullshit. My grandmother on my mother's side had it twice. My grandmother on my father's side had it and died. From someone who knew people with breast cancer, they don't think it is ridiculous. They like to know that there is so much support, and that there are so many people trying to help in anyway they can.
