So helpful. I ust started with the more expensive "professional" markers, but I like the idea of watercolor paints, and this is the best of both worlds.

Very cool result! I've never seen marker used this way ^^

Do you know if it's possible to "recharge" the markers? I have one marker that has become dry, and I was thinking that maybe it would be back to normal if put some alcohol in it...?

This is really nice. I do remember drawing with markers and then spilling water on them on purpose in VBS when I was in Kindergarden. This will be really helpful when I go on my next trip and I can't bring paints with me. My sister's pack about 2 pounds of markers. XD No joke. Thanks again!

And a wash is just a ( usually)light to medium-light covering of color on paper, that takes advantage ofd a transparent medium's...transparency.
Nice tutorial have a great day...nice seeing people enjoying art making and sharing what they discover.

And where did though purchaseth these magikal water pens? And are they cheaper than copics? D:

AmourFonce In reply to DracoPheonus [2007-04-16 05:03:59 +0000 UTC]

They're Crayola markers. The really cheapo ones you usually use at school.

I was in target and wanted to check the price of the markers, just to see how much they were and they can range from just 3 bucks to about 7 for a pretty large amount of em.

Cheap Materials work too.

I think I got a pack of those a while ago but I dont' know where they went. I'll dig em up and try this technique out.
Three or four of the markers have smells and flavors or something right?

There are alcohol based markers too XD The don't "wash" very well with alcohol though >_> Any ideas of how to keep the paper from wrinkling? XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

kmaier99 In reply to Kaza2S [2007-04-29 05:33:59 +0000 UTC]

you can stretch your paper by wetting it and then taping it with a low tack tape on all four sides so it can dry...since it has already been filled with water it will not buckle later when wet again.
Alcohol markers can be diluted and "washed" with a colorless blender sold by Prismacolor for about 2 dollars and change....or by alcohol and a cotton swab.
And yes..as Amourforce said, heavy watercolor paper...like the 300 pound variety doesn't buckle when wet.
I also use watercolor blocks which are a pad of paper that has the individual sheets glued down to the pad on all four sides...when you are done with your painting and it's dry, you use a raxor blade to detatch it from the block...a real pain, but the paper is nice and straight.

Kaza2S In reply to kmaier99 [2007-04-30 06:05:17 +0000 UTC]

That's an interesting idea. I'll give it a try.
Tried using a cotton swab but it wasn't the easiest thing to control. I do have a colorless blender now and it does work pretty well

AmourFonce In reply to Kaza2S [2007-04-16 04:19:06 +0000 UTC]

use some magek.

I dunno.

If you use thicker paper, it wouldn't really bother it (ie-watercolor paper).

XD Probably, I think last time I drowned the paper too badly @_@
