Description This is the first draft of my color wheels tutorial. I would love to get feedback on it so that I can improve it.

Came about mostly because in a conversation with outsidelogic [link] I realized that not everybody knew this stuff. And then I googled around a bit and discovered that I didn't know this stuff either.

enjoy,
-Alex

Nicely done, Alex. Glad I played a small part in it . I like how you used the illustrations...it really helps because this stuff is more complicated than most people realize. One thing: what you're calling the modern color wheel is really a color wheel for additive color...like when light is transmitted (as in a computer monitor), and all the colors mixed together at full intensity make white. Then what you're calling the traditional color wheel is a a color wheel for subtractive color, or what you see when light is reflected (as when you put paint on a canvas). You mix these colors together and they get darker. The primary colors for each type are different.

I actually did a bunch of reading on this, and learned more than I'll ever need to know (see my journal here: [link] ). I think your approach is more practical.

I love this
I don't know if I can add more to the comment already made, other than thank you for designing a super easy and helpful colour wheel cheat sheet.

Firstly, presentation, it is well set out, easy to follow and naturally the colours attract the eye so we notice it and want to read. There is a lot of vital information for the design process contained in it, as a trained graphic designer I know the difficultly in trying to put a lot of information into a page and at the same time preventing your piece from looking too cluttered. Bravo, you have done an excellent job here! You have broken everything up nicely into boxes which is fantastic and the rounded edges on the boxes are naturally more pleasing to the eye and our minds find it easier to take in the information.

The content, as far as I recall is spot on. I use this information all the time when designing, which I probably don't do enough off. It's a fantastic idea to have all of this information in one place where you can just pop it open while working on your computer. It is relevant to all levels. Well done and thank you for making something so useful.

Hope this helps
SJ
