Friendship Is Magic: The Next Generation begins thirty years after the birth of Princess Flurry Heart, and the story is... a bit darker and more complicated than My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic before it. It delves into the backstory around Alicorns, where they came from, why Discord is the only Draconequus, and who is the prisoner in the deepest darkest cell of the cosmic oubliette that is Tartarus...
(And admittedly, FIM:TNG does take some liberties with the events of MLP:FIM, mostly in regards to Equestria Girls and all episodes after and including The Cutie Re-Mark. That will become more apparent when it comes to the character bios for Sunset Shimmer, Flash Sentry, Starlight Glimmer, and others.)
Now, I have done this for years now online, but I think it deserves attention here: whenever I discuss a couple, I always use an ampersand "&" between their names, whereas with platonic pairs/groups, I use the word "and" instead. And also, I think we all take it for granted that same-sex couples in Friendship Is Magic headcanons can have kids. I mean, magic is a thing in this universe, and it's not ENTIRELY written off that sex-changes could happen with magic. Or just, you know, other options with the magic to allow two mares or two stallions to have children together. Anyway, moving on.

Fiesta Flare, known to pretty much everycreature as Funfetti for the seemingly perpetual presence of confetti in her presence, is the half-Kirin daughter of Skystar with Autumn Blaze. She is just as bright and chipper and chatty as you would imagine her to be with those two as her mothers. She loves candy, cotton candy, confections, carnivals, and the letter "F" (and words that start with it or contain it in abundance). She loves to go out with her mothers into the streets of Canterlot to dole out spontaneous musical numbers, deliver impassioned speeches about how she loves all of her family and friends... and dearly misses being able to travel out to her mothers' respective kin at Mt. Aris and the Peaks of Peril.

As the child of a Kirin & a (half-Alicorn) Hippogriff, Funfetti has the transformations of both her lines of descent. She can choose to become a Seapony, though she usually does this only when preparing for a stay in a large body of water. Although the Kirin have long since buried most of their problems with communication and dealing with their emotions, the occasional (literal) flare-up of a Nirik is inevitable. And Funfetti is no exception. Pent-up emotions about the Hippogriffs, Seaponies, and Kirin who Funfetti misses have necessitated her soundproofing her walk-in closet so that she can occasionally scream and rage and cry without raising a public problem. Her mothers don't know of this purpose for her closet.

Skystar & Autumn Blaze first met shortly after the forces of friendship defeated Cozy Glow, Chrysalis, and Tirek. Queen Novo and Princess Skystar arrived just as the evil trio were subdued, and in the aftermath Skystar was taken with the sight of a pretty and floofy orange mane. She had never seen a Kirin before, and she was immensely fascinated by them. After so much time under the sea not getting to meet new creatures, Skystar was all too eager to listen to a new friend talk about her new species. And Autumn Blaze was all too eager not just to talk but to sing about her kind in all their highs and lows. For her part, when she was finished, Autumn Blaze got to listen to Skystar and the story of the Hippogriffs. Two creatures who yearned for talking and connections with another, and received it in abundance. Naturally, they became close friends, and whenever they met the talking seemed to never cease. And soon, the friendship was supplemented by something else. And that's how Fiesta Flare was made~!

Funfetti comes from a set of half a dozen OT3 ship adopts by Strawberry-Spritz . I saw the concept of Skystar with Autumn Blaze and I just could not resist adopting her. In the context of FIM:TNG, Pinkie is not related to Funfetti except as an honorary aunt; Funfetti's pink hair comes from her grandmother Novo. The Nirik colors come directly from the MLP Vector Club's color guide , though the colors of her Nirik beak come from Celestia & Novo (for the lines and fill, respectively).
