Description For the 100 Art Challenge, theme 16, Questioning.

At last, I finally finished it! This is the drawn, colored, completed version of the Britomart WIP I did awhile back. Talk about an evolution! I got rid of the little side table because I could find nothing to balance it with, and found it was distracting on its own. Britomart herself has undergone quite a transformation, and for the better. I love, love, love her face now, and I'm very pleased with the shading and lighting. (I dig the tapestry, too!) I am soooo happy with how this turned out. I think it's beautiful!!! All the gold and jewel tones were fun, and it was great to finally sit down and work on a painting again.
So finally, I present to you, Britomart, hours before her wedding to Emperor Maximus of Remia, thinking over her situation and wondering if she's doing the right thing. Sorry it took me so long to finally get this finished. I hope you all like it!

Very pretty Olivia, I like how her dress matches the painting on the wall. You're doing quite well at these

What fantastic work Olivia!!! She looks so perplexed, as if the burden of her marriage were overpowering her. One can't help feel sorry for her.

Aw, thank you! I'm so glad you like it. Thankfully, her marriage turns out to be very happy, but at first, she definately has some moments like this one.

Beautiful. Her face carries so much emotion. Her hands are also very well done. How did you get them to look so naturally positioned?

Gwah! Thank you! (I do love her face!) Her hands were a nightmare! I managed to get them that nice, through a combination of looking at some pictures of hands (in different poses though), straining my own around wierdly and looking at them, and sketching around until it looked right.

But of course! -glomps you back- ( Her face is wonderfully done. -nods- )
Ah. Well, your effort definitly paid off. You must have the patience of a saint, though, to do so much to get them to look right.

*huge grin*
Doing her hands was a pain. I wanted to rush through, but then I thought, you spent so much time on everything else, but you're going to ruin it by rushing her hands? So I slowed down and took my time and it really payed off.

It certainly did.
Out of curiousity, is there a particular place that you found reference for hand positions for this? You mentioned references as well as your own hands.

Actually it was a painting of the Duchess de Polignac (a close friend of Marie Antoinette's) which I happened to have lying around and whose hands were in a position a little close to what I was looking for.
