I have fallen into the rabbit hole of Infection AU's and can't get out, so here's some doodles of some characters in my wof infection story
again my art style has changed and yes it will keep on changing infinitely lol

The ash gut disease

About 2-3 years after the events of the 3rd arc, Nightwings begin to mix with the Rainwing village, with many moving in and building their homes on the outskirts.
That was about the same time Rainwings started getting sick.

No one knew why at first- but as the steady trickle of diseased became a flow, as Glory's concern mounted to panic, as she began to document what was happening- she realized that this was something no-one had seen before. All she knew was that it wasn't affecting the Nightwings that had lived on the volcano. She decided to call an emergency evacuation, telling the Nightwings in the village- including Moon, who was visiting her mother at the time- to stay exactly where they were while she and the Rainwings found out what was going on.

Glory quickly pieced together- with the help of Starflight- what this actually was.
It was a bug, originated from the volcano, and had been there, according to Nightwing records, since they first landed on that moons-forsaken island. Apparently the parasite had been hidden by thickets of dense forest and for thousands of years it had only occasionally killed livestock before the volcano erupted. After that, it killed many Nightwings, but eventually they had evolved against it and had barely left traces that it was there, now nothing more to them than a common cold or flu.
Glory decided to tell Fierceteeth and her group to leave for the time being, as Glory and the remaining Rainwings needed a place to stay, and they left (mostly) without a fight.
Glory didn't mention how exactly she was going to find a cure. Or who she would experiment on to get it.

From there, infected Rainwings tumbled out of the rainforest, and the continent became in upheaval. Soon there were only two main surviving groups left: Ruby's group, consisting mainly of the Skywing tribe as well as the border towns of Possibility and Sanctuary, and Glory's group, made up of the healthy Rainwings and the talons of peace (or what was left of them).

Ruby, after years of Scarlet and now this, almost cracked if it wasn't for Sky, who had joined the group to help with the healing efforts, and her son, Cliff. She has decided to accept this new life without much argument, letting in anyone they come across, and preparing for this to be long-term, possibly for the rest of their lives. She knows Glory is trying to find a cure, and tries to organise meetings frequently, almost always getting turned down with scrawled letters filled with hostility. She is starting to see unrest in her subjects- and refuses to be called Queen Ruby anymore. She doesn't deserve that title, she insists. She focuses on little Prince Cliff instead, who is adored and well-liked amongst everyone. He still has a chance at a better life, even if she's ruined hers.

Glory is handling things mostly well. Tsunami visited the sick and wounded on the Talon peninsula early on, but left soon after to relay the news to Queen Coral. Nobody saw her for weeks until Peril and Clay saw her- or, at least they thought it was her- wandering in the cliffsides. Glory is now even more determined to find a cure and is furious and bitter at Ruby and her ignorance. She didn't understand it fully yet, but she would, when she lost someone too. And then she would come crawling back, and Glory would spit in her face.

That's it for now! This is just a silly lil idea and nothing is really set in stone yet, I just felt like creating some cool character designs. Idk how insects/parasites like that would work, I am certainly no expert and never will be, so I'm all for suggestions >.<
