Are his knees supposed to bend like that? I'm not used to this cartoon style, but I think it's good. Are their heads supposed to be flat like that?

yep. It's a care-free art style from the main series itself, Adventure Time. They normally lack joints and details and stuff, but the laid-back nature of the style gives a lot of oportunity for fans alike to create their own likeness either base on the style or using their own original styles.
My creator (AKA other account) wasn't used to the style before too, but he kinda grown to it...too much if you ask me. hehe...
