GOTTA CATCH EM' ALL!For the record, I say that this style is "mini-pony" style. Not chibi or "BBBFF" style.
Discord appears disguised as a pony rather than as a Draconequus. This is because if he was a non-pony, it would become very hard to draw the line between story-interesting characters and characters which conformed to the Mini-Pony profile. Gilda was a bit of a stretch. So was Maneiac, for that matter.

The image tag I've seen used for these is "Pointy Ponies". I'd say "mini-pony" is a bit redundant with "My Little Pony".
