Alright then,

If I had some moviemaking experience under my belt and working with Speilberg himself...

The changes I would made are: try to make the romance between Wade Watts / Parzival and Samantha Cook / Art3mis not so forced and maybe have Parzival have a smidge more common sense than letting his glands do the talking. Have the romance build up but not make it average feelings, let it take time.  Forgive me, I'm not much of a romance person.

Also, I'd have Art3mis push the envelope with shape shifting or transformation abilities, kind of like what she did with Goro. 

And like you, I'd probably start on the sequel right away as well, if I can think up a good follow up story.

Everything else, will follow the actual film suit.
