First artwork of 2015! Happy new year to everyone btw!
This was inspired by Chinese landscape painting in ink. I've been looking at loads of those lately and I'm amazed how much emotion could those masters pour into their landscapes. I mean the way the landscape flows across the page; the mountains that look solid in one part and in another look like clouds or silk; the ever present fog; and those gorgeous trees that twist in a very human like way-it's all so dreamy. After a while studying them I was reminded of a double tree that grew close to my house which went through a very slow withering process after one half of it was cut for safety. So I decided to draw it. I don't have any mountains around my hometown but it felt right to improvise a landscape here.
