Description After almost five years...
i decided to release Sucuriju finally to the public... so he can spread more terror and fear in the swamps of your DAZ-Studio folder.
Sucuriju is an texture for the DAZ Morphing Python ( [link] ) to transform it into a Green Anaconda (Eunectes murinus).
The first version was created in April 2008 and a lot of countless small revisions are done during the last 5 years. This texture is the latest version (Feb. 2013) of the texture that i actually use for my Sucuriju-series at DeviantART since 2008.

Version 1.0 from April 2008

Installing:
Unzip the folder Sucuriju.zip and:
Copy from the unzipped "Sucuriju"-folder the files in Runtime/Libraries/Pose/Sucuriju to the same folder-location of your DAZ-Studio/Poser-content (the "Sucuriju"-folder in this location contains the Sucuriju-morph).
Copy from the unzipped Sucuriju-Folder the files in Runtime/Textures/Sucuriju to the same folder-location of your DAZ-Studio/Poser-content (the "Sucuriju"-folder in this location contains the texture and bumpmap).

Using/Applying:
Load the DAZ-Python.
Surf in the Content-Library of DAZ-Studio to DAZ-Studio -> Pose -> Sucuriju and load the body-morphs. Now we should have Sucuriju in it's desired shape and length... but the textures are still missing.

And now for some fiddling about:
To export the morph-settings of Sucuriju, i used the "Poser Format Exporter" from DAZ3D. Unfortunately this script is safing only the data of the morph-settings and size but not the textures and bumpmaps. So we have to set the textures and bumpmaps manually:
In the Surface-tab (Editor -> Surfaces) of DAZ-Studio click on "Diffuse Color" and "browse" to Runtime -> Textures -> Sucuriju -> anaconda-map.jpg
In the Surface-tab (Editor -> Surfaces) of DAZ-Studio click on "Bump strength" and "browse" to Runtime -> Textures -> Sucuriju -> anaconda-bumpmap.jpg
to set the texture and bumpmap. To got a shiny look of the scales set the Bumpmap to 100% and about -0.20 and +0.20. Lighting model is "Plastic"
As last chose "InnerMouth" in the Surface-tab of the DAZ-Python and set the color to grey (192/192/192). Otherwise the inner mouth would look too dark and red.

I prefer to safe the finished setup as a DAZ-scene (.duf in DS 4.5 or .daz in previous versions of DS), so you can merge it later in your works without doing all the annoying manual setup of the texture and bumpmap again.

Known issues:
Using the poses that come with the DAZ-Python deleting the morph-settings for the Sucuriju-morphs and switching all the Python-morphs always back to it's default settings
In DAZ-Studio 4 there are some weird distortions of the DAZ-Python possible when using it with my morph-settings. I don't know what happened here. This weird problem (Picture: [link] ) suddenly occurred only in DS 4, never in DS 3 or previous versions and in DS 4.5 it was fortunately vanished again.

Do it work in Poser too?
Yes! I just tried it in Poser 9! It's the same as in DAZ-Studio: Load the Python first, and in the Pose-Folder load then the .pz2 from the "Sucuriju"-folder... and you have to set the textures and bumpmaps manually in the Material-Room too. It works akin as the procedure via the Surface-Tab in DAZ-Studio (The Surface-Tab in DS is just another name for that, what the Material Room in Poser is).

how I can make the effect in daz-studio,
for the mouth of the serpent and of the neck becomes swollen, as if swallowing something , Morphling python only fed morph has limits this hip 11 neck 11 and tail 11 I wonder if I can expand them to achieve this effect in more parts of the snake in special in his head-mouth and the rest of his neck

thanks and greetings

I don't think there's a way at the moment to do the jaw movement with the Morphing Python. The only way I could do this was by using a second figure and resizing most joints to 0% to use as the lower jaw. Expanding the jaw must be done manually by either using the resize option, or if possible, disabling the parameter limits (double-click the parameter).

If I wanted to get into the hobby of 3D models and creating peril out of them like you do, what programs would you recommend for beginners?

I tried Daz 3d 4.5 (free version) about 6-7 months ago and it was an absolute nightmare and headache for me, only reason I mention that is because I've seen people such as yourself use Daz 4.5 and have some incredible results.

The trouble with DAZ-Studio (DS) is its user-interface. It went the "Blender-way" since 2008. Like in the free modeler "Blender" the programmers add one cool feature after the other but the user-interface was forgotten and became more and more cryptic and cluttered for beginners. I started with DS 1.8 when it was still slim and easy to learn, and i can work with DS 4.5 only because i followed the way of it since DS 1.8... and there are still 1000+ little things in it that i don't understand
I think if i would start today with DS 4.5 as a totally beginner, it would drive me crazy like Blender do and i would throw it out of the window after a few hours. In DS 4.0 they have already tried to clean up the interface, but it is straight on the way to become a chaotic patchwork again since DS 4.5.
DS has the "Blender disease": Cool functions and awesome possibilities... but the user-interface is still a chaotic, cryptic and unintuitive mess in spite of the desultory tries to clean it up... Not to talking about all the bugs in it: I have the feeling for every removed bug two new bugs were implemented from version to version, so it's not uncommon to suddenly stumble over such effects [link] after an major-update

So do you think I should just go through tons of trial and error with it until I get it?

Or do you recommend another program?

Also, that link you posted was a MAJOR problem i had. Sometimes I would tweak a position or body part ever so slightly and BAM! I had a giant mess someway, somehow! lol

DS isn't a bad program, but it can become very annoying and i would say, rather than i master DS, i try to fight my way through it in every new project. Sometimes i got the expected results, but sometimes i abandon works rather than really finishing them too.
[link] is a good example for a rather abandoned work with thousands of problems that i tried to correct or camouflage in post-production... and [link] for a work that turned out even better than expected (happened not very often).

Just do it! As all my works it's under CC BY-SA too for free copying, modifying, spreading etc.

If you press CTRL while applying a pose, you can tell it not to mess with morphs.

Thanks for the info! I will try this as next. The Sucuriju-preset did not contain new morphs but adjustments for the morph-dials that come already with the DAZ Python, and applying a pose from the DAZ Python-poses do always reset the setted morph-dials for the body-shape back to zero.

Is there chance that you will make a Cobra morph (hood) for the DAZ snake. I looked around and never found one.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ancestorsrelic In reply to bastler [2013-02-24 22:46:21 +0000 UTC]

The Sucuriju-setup is actually not a new morph, just some adjustments of the morphs that comes already with the DAZ-Python and saved as a .pz2-File.
I am just in the beginnig to create totally new made custom-morphs in DS and Hexagon and got the first results, but some troubles are still unsolved, for example, how to save a morph without the (copyrighted) mesh so i can give away only the morph for a figure. At the moment i managed it only to save the whole figure (incl. the mesh) with the new made morph in it.

Pardon for the late answer. Just found this [link] in the forum-thread... Maybe this is what i need to simply export my morph without the mesh? I an not sure yet.

Glad you like it! It's a little bit older (from 2008) and i didn't found out yet, how to export a .pz2 that contains the paths to materials and bumpmaps too (that's the reason why you have to fumble it manually on the Python). During the last five years i wondered why no one else created an Anaconda-texture, and before someone else would do it (and maybe even better than me), i thought, give it at last away for free now!
