If you want some critique i`ll try to scribble somthin`.
The lightning is quite good, I like how light shifts from one face`s half to another, I think that`s quite nice.
Background is neutral and blurred and that`s a must if you want to accent a horse`s face and details.
The crop, i think, is terrible - ears and nose is cropped, I think, it is nonsense - if you wanted to do eyeshot then crop like an eyeshot.
But now - sorry but this isn`t portrait and not a eyeshot too - something in the middle and it feels distracting.
Before you take a shot you need to know directly what you want to see in this shot.
I don`t know what camera you use but it can be seen that image lacks some detail.
To get best results, set your camera`s image quality to best possible, if it`s DSLR, then shoot RAWs.
When saving a image after post editing, choose highest possible quality too.
Of course, it`s not your fault if a camera is weak.

Though I think this is an average image.
If I were some judge I can`t give more than 5/10 to this image.

Sorry if I was harsh but you requested some critique and these are my thoughts.
I want you to know that I don`t wrote this to make you feel sad or bad, but I wrote this to help you achieve good and nice results in the future - if you really want it then you can get it, it`s not so hard, just keep working and if you can, maybe buy some book about photography - i like John Hedgecoe`s - "Photography".

It`s easy to read and there are some good, basic tips for beginners and some advanced photographers.
