Gridman is an Ultraman Spinoff created by Ultraman's creators, Tsuburaya Pro. It was Power Rangered by DIC to compete with Saban's Power Rangers. And... It was good! Honestly, Syber Squad is actually a bit better than Power Rangers from that era, mostly because the main characters were more flawed and prone to mistakes, where as the Rangers were that bizarre cadre of perfect stereotypes that had no real flaws (relax, I still love them). Plus, Gridman gave them awesome footage and gimmicks to work with, such as the transforming mecha that became upgrade armor for the hero. You should check it out! It's on DVD on Amazon.

No Gridman. Ultraman had a different motive. I think it's like secret agents calling out for a giant robot or something....I don't remember. Plus Ultraman was dubbed into English not re-imagine (like Power Ranger was). The actors were still Japanese.
