no, I meant the turtle's race, like a river turtle, or a galapagos turtle or a green turtle or I don't know squat about turtle and was hoping to learn a bit

Good work also on Raph, I think (like for Mike) you have a good interpretation of the character (Raph is the most agressive of the four) so i like the pose. I also like the fact that he seems issued from an other species of Turtle (a more primitive one and indeed a more agressive one) , he is quite different from the other three. I remenber in a version of the comics that Raph has a "curse" and he mutated in a more bigger and prehistoric form. Have you considered doing others characters from TMNT comics ?Β

Common North American snapping turtle or some other species? I can't tell what his scutes look like.

He looks most like a common snapping turtle without the tail.

There's tubercles on his neck. That's why I was wondering if he might be an alligator snapping turtle. However, his nostrils don't protrude out like an alligator snapping turtle's would, so he could also be a common snapping turtle.
Hence the conundrum.
But, if that's the most he can open his mouth, then the answer would be 'common snapping turtle'.

Alligator snappers have scutes that raise up into blunted spikey protrusions. Common snappers have a smooth shell.
