Um... desert islands in an ocean, with orange clouds in a blue sky. Not exactly realistic, but that's okay. Why use a computer to imitate real life if you can do anything with it?
I like the shape of the clouds in the reflection. Maybe I'd have made the water a little smoother so the reflection is clearer... maybe. If you haven't already, I'd experiment a bit with the color of the sky. If you have, and you like it how it is, that's okay, but considering how you like to make the clouds weird colors, you might like to do similar stuff with the atmospheric color. And by the way, "weird" in this case is not a criticism.

Who, me? I sometimes complain about Terragen because there are some features of it that are either not intuitive or are just hard to work with (though it's nothing a bit of skill can't get around... too bad I lack that skill

Because this way, he can take realistic further. Why stick within the boundaries of everyday realistic sightings when you can create new images which look like nothing you've ever seen before?
