After clearing away some of the beautiful fall leaves from the pavement in James A. Garfield National Historic Site, Ranger Allison and I noticed these beautiful patterns that the decomposing leaves were leaving on the pavement.Related content

A stunning, a bit abstract picture that I really like actually. I like the leaf patterns in the floor or whatever it is, it really emphasizes the two color leafs and really makes it pop out of the picture. It's also good that the background is grey although I am not that keen on the darker corners of the picture.
Good colorstrength of the leafs though but I think you should have placed them more down in the picture because now when they are so far up your eyes don't really get drawn to them as they should e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Good picture though.

Thank you! One of these days I'm saving up to buy PhotoShop so I can control more of the editting. PicMonkey is great... for a start... haha.

This is really cool. It reminds me of the Salem Willows, where you can see leaf patterns in the pavement, as though someone pressed a leave against the cement before it hardened. I like that you included two actual leaves of differing colors, to compare with the imprints on the pavement.

Thank you so much! You know, I'm not sure how, exactly, that this happened to the pavement... I think it's something to do with decomposing leaves. And the credit should really go to James A. Garfield's wife Lucretia. The MANY types of trees provide us with a bevy of beautiful brightly colored leaves.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad other people see the beauty in it too. And thankfully I got it when I did - it rained the next day!

That is amazing!
It is really astounding how much art occurs naturally, we just have to pay attention.

I agree 100%! I was so surprised to look down and see that. Thank God I had my trusty camera with me! Sometimes you just gotta look down...
