I too love Impmon, he is my favorite Tamers Digimon. Which is weird, because normally, my favorite Digimon is my favorite human character's partner - but in Tamers, favorite human was Ruki.

I think Tamers is unique in that the partner Digimon develop as characters much more than they pretty much ever did in previous seasons. I guess the exception would be Gatomon or Wormmon, but that's pretty much it.
Impmon is great because he is surprisingly complex. He's a comedic character while simultaneously being a dramatic/tragic one. He also continues to be a flawed character, even though he has reformed, which is more relatable than, say, Ken Ichijouji's reformation.
Plus, he's just so darn cool.
