Eddy - "Okay Ed, up that tree."

(Ed looks at the huge tree in fear)

Eddy - "Up you go."

(The acrophobic Ed turns back to his friends)

That's a REALLY high tree! And even Ed knows it. He's too afraid to climb it. When he, Edd, and Eddy were in the process of building a treehouse for Club Ed, he was instructed by Eddy to climb the tree they found, and he was horrified at the idea. He tried to climb it, but he only shimmied himself just a few inches off the ground.

Just imagine if he was told to climb the huge tree from Disney's The Jungle Book, where Mowgli and Bagheera slept for the night. It would be the same story. Ed would tell his friends he's scared the minute he's only a few inches of the ground while shimmying himself up.

This is an idea I thought about for quite a long time. While watching "Virt-Ed-Go," I thought of the idea of Ed climbing up that tree from The Jungle Book. I was thinking of an Ed, Edd n Eddy/Jungle Book crossover, and when the Eds, along with Mowgli and Bagheera arrive at the tree, Eddy tells Ed to climb it, much to his fear. And of course, when he's barely a few inches off the ground, like in the EENE episode, the other Eds use a pulley system. Of course, I'm probably not the only one who had the same idea. I'm pretty sure there were a lot of EENE fans who had the same idea.

Although the background is just a screenshot from The Jungle Book, Ed's vector was traced. Because this shot takes place at night, I colored Ed in his nighttime color palette. In fact, since the movie was done in traditional cel animation, I colored Ed from the pre-season 5 (pre-digital-ink) colors. It takes a sharp eye for detail to notice the difference if you've watched the EENE series, both in traditional cel and digital ink and paint. I was thinking about posting this on Arbor Day, but I couldn't find the time. In the end, I'm glad how this turned out.

There's another EENE submission on the way. When it will be posted I don't know yet. But it will be worth the wait.
