Description
I was just trying out some Photoshop techniques - this is a composite of two images both taken from the same flight from Manchester to Dublin. The clouds looked particularly strange, and the sky is in fact upside down, but it appears normal as the clouds are taken from above (not an angle you usually see) and the top part of the image has the same clouds flipped and rotated, then blended together using masks.I used a brush set by redheadstock for the meteors ( redheadstock.deviantart.com/ar… ) - I would have liked to have spent a bit more time sourcing various meteors which is what I might do if I begin creating more in-depth artworks from my images using more suitable source photographs to use in the composites.
I wanted to add some more space based elements (maybe galaxies or stars ect.) in the top of the image which is one of the reasons this is a scrap and unfinished. I might continue on this or just start a new image using similar techniques which I've trailed here.
There are at least 10 or so layers making up this image, but most of them are subtle adjustments to contrast, colour, tones, gradients, flare, additional lighting effects etc which all together were intended to create a sci fi feel. Let me know if you think I achieved it and what kind of things you might like to see in future works of mine.
The sky is not the limit.

There is definately a feel for galaxies further up. Not sure about sci-fi feel, but it sure as hell looks magical and space-y.
I didn't even notice upside down sky until I read your description.
Need to find more meteors since all of those have exactly same particle effect.
The flare effect looks a bit out of place since there is no sun, but overall it's fitting.
I like it

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and some really good points there. It really helps to get a second opinion. I've not been active on the art side of my retouching lately so reading this has come at a perfect time and will be useful to think about when progressing in this area of artwork soon (hopefully) I might also re-visit this piece to finish it off, or take the ideas into a new one. Much appreciated
