Description A progress photo on the scuplt I'm doing of me for practice. I want to learn sculpting properly.

Now it looks a bit like anime. Please give comments that might help me improve this one, that's why I'm posting it.

Made in plasticine, about 7 cm tall from chin up.

Cheers

If that's really a bust of yourself, then you are gorgeous!

I love the expression, and the level of detail so far is amazing, especially when you consider it's only 7cm tall! The only thing I can think of is to work on defining the hair a bit more and, like someone else said, put a picture of yourself next to it so folks can give you more distinct criticism...

Thanks!

It's not a photographic similarity I'm afraid (wish I was that good), but should have my main features, though probably also things I've picked up from cartoons when studying anatomy of figures, and that's what I hoped people maybe could help me pick out.

Next time I try a self portrait I'll definiatley add a photo of me as well so people can give comments on similarity, I agree that would make it alot easier,

You've captured the eyes really well. That really helps to bring a sculpt to life!

(He looks like a bit like Captain Scarlet! That is meant as a compliment!)

this is looking very nice, you should put a pic of yourself up next to it if you want some crit. Great work so far though

are you going to paint it?

It's made in plasticine so I'm not sure what paint I would use if there is any at all. I might try to look that up. Made this just for practice though. It's already deformed quite a lot as I'm fixing up the profile.

well you can cast it first (plastic, porcelain or other ceramic) and paint with acryliks. I think you have to use your own photo in the same position, play with ligt and shadows everywhere over the face (like painting a portrait on a relief).

I'm not very good with this kind of stuff, so can't help you on the crit parts. Maybe if you post a turnaround of it?

Looking pretty good so far tho
