Last week I asked you to vote for the subject of my next painting. I wanted to paint something heavily inspired by one of the more successful paintings from my portfolio and your vote dictated that the inspiration should be "Fields of Gold ". I also wanted to record the whole painting process so I could share it on PatreonΒ forΒ whoever was interested.Here is the result! I tried to retain the main qualities from the main painting (fiery orange, vast landscape, small scale subject vs large building) while introducing/changing a few different things. I believe the main difference from Fields of Gold is the sense of movement. Whereas the source is a vast and calm scenery this one has a sense of urgency.
Before anyone starts saying they prefer the other one
let me just say my aim here was not create a better (or worse) version but to use something as inspiration while creating something new.I will release this reward (video, original PSD, brushes, step by step, explanatory diagram) on Patreon on the 15th December, so, if you are interested, pledge until then. A new autumn journal entry ^^
I really fell in love with all these pictures I feature here ...
Some day I want to visit the castle Eltz (pic upside).Β
It was one of my plans for autumn but I'm so busy ^^<

Because the architecture is part of the story I think it should be a tad darker. As it is it does not compete with the mid-ground, my eye passes over it as if it is not really there, and instead my eye feels trapped in the foreground. But it could just be my monitor screen or personal preference. As I see all the detail on the house like the wagon. I want to leap from the wagon to the house but can't because it is too faint.

The colour and atmosphere here are excellent! Just enough detail on the castle and coach to give the impression of mist; just enough light on the grass to highlight the main subjects.Β
