Description
I'm about to start working on some big freelance projects soon which means no personal stuff for a while, but before I do that I feel that I have to do something... big. Like my friend adonihs did on his awesome WWZ piece, I too want to create something that'll blow your fucking brains out, so to speak. So in order to create a little hype here's a preview of the sketch and a quick color study. Going for the Michael Bay style. Got inspired by something I've done at work recently which you'll be seeing really soon. Trust me, we have some sweeeet stuff coming out of the studio soon, if I may say so.
Anyway my friends, stay tuned for the big one! (10k wide, 300dpi.. poor laptop..)

Dunno which way he did it, but Cubebrush has some good solid coloring tutorials on their website and on YouTube. Β They could help out if you haven't seen them yet.

Do you always start with B/W sketch (for defining lighting, shadows)?

So, you draw a grayscale sketch and then what? Draw the same stuff with more details and with colors just over the grayscale image? Or use blending modes? Or both? %)

Thats why you are my hero.
You should mention in your journal all the projects you worked with.
Then I can watch a movie and say "Hey I saw it on DA!"
Let us know that you are proud of what you do \o/

This is just a quick thought, but glancing at the B/W image I thought the big bad robot was looking at the nearer of the two smaller ones.
I don't know why, but it think that works better compositionally, it breaks up the way you look at the image a little.
just a thought.

pretty epic as is for ideas, I love anything GITS inspired, the tachikoma-esque tank designs always strike a chord with me. Great work so far.
