Before I get the comments please let me mention this is Cobb the character not a caricature of Leonardo DiCaprio.So anyway, I've been working on a design for the Inception comic cover contest and have been having a tough time. The damn logo they want at the top is huge, I'd rather have it two thirds down and I feel like I am trying to squeeze too much stuff onto the little template. So to slow myself down I figured I should try to get a feel for the characters first. So I sketched Cobb here at work and brought him home for some ink practice.

Hey Andrew,
I wouldn't say that it isn't a caricature of DiCaprio, albeit you said so yourself. Why? Let me explain:
The actual difference might be your version of Cobbs lips, but already, your version of Cobb has the receding hairlines and the stern wrinkles between the eyes. Now add some 20 years or so and a broken nose (one or even two times, perhaps - Cobb seems to be one of the guys who, messing with the wrong people, catches a punch now and then) to DiCaprio's current appearance ...
Voilà: DiCaprio starring as Dom Cobb or Cobb starring as DiCaprio! 
... ... and now, please let me run off in order to escape the artist's wrath ...
Anyway, I very much like your drawing! Good luck with the cover, if you're going to finish it!

hahaha wrath. That's funny, yeah we do get so defensive. It's like we put too much of our soul into our work so when someone criticizes it we feel like someone is trying to kill us hahah. No that's cool. My approach was still to give it Leonardo type features because I figured Nolan must have picked him for a reason ya know? And where it is just a movie and no book there is no other description of the character to go off of. I just hate those type of comments so I was covering my ass haha. No wrath this time bud haha.

Nevertheless, I see the reason why your Cobb turned out like that. I like him very much, because you really used your imagination, took a step back from the movie and stayed true to it at the same time. I think that's rather heroic as we are so dependent on and on the same side "governed" by visual imput. I remember all this "Tolkien"- and "Lord of the Rings"-art that popped up after the movies ... everything looked the same! Although the art of the triology was really great, it was depressing to see the inspiration of the artists swept away by it!

thanks bud, yeah i do make everyones noses pretty big. not sure why. just looks funny to me small. They say an artist always draws himself in his art hahahaha I wonder what that means??haha thanks again buddy
