Description
This is in-progress. I plan to add at least 4 more characters to the line-up once their designs are finalized. Jack Magic has the distinction of being the only one of my stories where most of the characters are direct spiritual take-offs of actual celebrities (look them up on IMDB.com). Since it takes place in a fantasy world, where the comedy mainly comes from Shrek-like sensibilites, like spoofing Disney motifs, and includes some mature content, it was only reasonable to do this. Here are the characters from left to right. Warning: if you do not want to know what happens in the main storyline, do not read these profiles!Jack Magic (based on Adam Sandler): genuine magic rabbit, the star of the show, and knows it. Completely in his own world of showbiz and whiskey, this rabbit takes no hesitation to show off. Dry humor and jolly, his lucky ability to make happy endings by the snap of a finger is where most of his big-headedness comes from. That doesn't mean he doesn't help people. On the contrary, he is always there to lend a helping hand, but it is usually for his own promotion.
Morgan (based on several young actresses... Liv Tyler, Natalie Portman, and Zooey Deschenal being the strongest): born and raised on a farm with no siblings, but dreams of making it big as an entertainer. She hated her parents when she was younger, mainly because she felt they didn't listen to her. While many children eventually shoved this off, Morgan milked it to the point of disillusionment. Her early puberty resulted into one traumatic encounter with a... mime... in a near-rape. She pines for the innocent days of youth, and as such, adores children, and is one of the reasons for her dream. Since then, she has run away to pursue it, and all is going well, when she meets Jack...
Burt (based on Justin Long): Cowardness, personified. An awkward post-teen who formed an infatuation with the days of knights and princes, so much that he wants to be one. Very clumsy. His only chance at achieving this dream is to play one on-stage, since no princes and knights exist in the government anymore, so he decides to join Madame Paisley's traveling magic troop.
Madame Paisley (based on Kathryn Joosten): one of the last living innovators of the practice of Magic in this world. Motherly, thrifty, headstrong, and a bit senile, she is now making the best of her post-prime conditions and formed her own non-profit traveling magic troop, fashioning her only caravan into her business office, home and rehearsal center. Being from a family of gypsies, she fashions everything in that way of living. She wears a mechanical device around her waist that provides her with more accomedations than a Dr. Suess machine!
Zidler the Magnificent (based on Christopher Lee): Jack creator. An elderly gentleman, he never quits the business of magic, even when times gets harder and harder. At first, Jack was fine with always obeying his orders and doing the same tricks over and over again, but he soon realized that he could make his own decisions as well. When the Parliment finally got rid of all practices, Jack encouraged Zidler to be even stronger. But it all went to his head, and Zidler is now a brainwashed workaholic, and not as weak, or nice, as he used to be.
Gunthrie (based on Peter Dinklage): born at 3 feet high, Guthrie overcomes his shortcomings with his ability to negociate and his ability to take control of a situation. He works alongside Madame Paisley on her troop, as everyone often listens to him more. Considerate and forceful, he makes close friends with Jack, as they have... *ahem* a lot in common. Just don't call him short!
Perout (based on no one in particular): the handsome, debonair son of the family ruling the Parliment. He was raised into the richest family in the area, and so, has no idea of how bad the farmers and commoners have it. The typical spoiled brat, he often calls on his parents for "help". He first meets Jack and Zidler when they perform in front of his family, but, seeing no relevance to their tricks, labels them as charlatons and has since formed a harsh hatred toward them.
NOT SHOWN
The KNOMES: little men that live in the outskirts of the forest. Often confused for being harmless due to their cute appearance, they are actually nasty little boogers when confronted. They spend their days lounging in moss, in their little homes, or holding festivals among the canopies.
The FAIRIES: the only other fantasy creature the Knomes have contact with. Fairies are mischevious, naughty, hippy-like freeloaders who spend their days socializing, stealing from humans and knomes, and copulating. A lot. Which must be why there are so many of them, and why the Parliment began to erase them from the board years ago. But the remaining are still surviving, cause you can't very well beat fast copulation.

i'm absolutely loving madam paisley... so much character to her... morgan's outfit is getting less and less interesting every time you redraw her... but then again i'm a fashion snob! lol... these look great... can't wait to see them in action...

Excellent lineup.
The design on Madame Paisley's cloth is something cool to break the black outlines.
I'm also really digging the contrast of shape sizes used in Perout.
The shine on Zidler's cape doesn't seem to be working for me. I've seen you do sparkling and shiny cloth materials in some of your comic pages that seems to work much better. I think it's because the shine is only in that one spot near his shoulder and isn't on any of the other folds.
Gunthrie is by far my favorite. When I just look at him I crack up. What can I say, he's just funny looking.
Great job!

As stylish as Zidler is, I think I'm most fond of Madame Paisley's design the most. Probably because she reminds me of Mummy Fortuna and her homemade horrors.

Yeah, the name-sake character is a pink bunny! Can't go wrong there. Fuzzy short characters interacting with humans have always interested me. Madame Paisley is setting your self up for detailed clothing!

Love the designs/ descriptions. Kudos in particular on Gunthrie, I've always found little person designs to be really hard to carry off, but you did a great job!
