I think the appeal to Kung Fu Panda lies not only in the animated stylized fight sequences, but in the relationship formed between the two main characters. It's only subtly shown in the film, but Shifu slowly becomes Po's best friend as well as a more dedicated teacher, which I find interesting. Heck, it ends with only the two of them!On the risk of using some borderline-gay undertones, I decided to draw them eating some kind of food on a stick. I still love this style of drawing with no lines, and will try to use it more often.

This is absolutely adorable! If you stick around to watch the ending credits you'll notice Po sitting with Shifu eating dumplings together.

Don't ask me why, but this looks like a somehow MORE FLUID version of Pascal Campion's work.

I just saw Campion's work, since the Character Design blog has an interview with him.
I can see the similarities, but he doesn't use cel-shading, his forms are more graphic, and he uses mainly two colors. Very Mary Blair-inspired. Thanks for the reference!

I LOVE this! I did notice Shifu started developing a strong bond with Po, and soon a strong loving master student relationship! I've seen the movie 9 times haha!
