Apparently, DA's Submit Now buttons are so broken, I wasn't able to upload this until WAY later than all the other online places I added this video to already! Whatever. I finally did. :/
Against my already busy schedule, I wanted to break free of the daily grind so here’s my first ToonBoom test animation since my last one on November 2015. I got the inspiration to revisit the show I animated on and do my own take on the Mikey design. This is the type of animation I imagine a rebooted series to look like and move, and also how I imagine Mikey to look and move in a movie idea I had. The line is taken directly from the episode “The Lost Pilot”. Also, I saw Your Name a week ago, which is produced by Michael Sinterniklaas here (he also voices Taki), so I felt now was a good time to do this test.
As you can see, there are some nitpicks I learned I need to polish if I get to another test. The arms are animated with a curve bone deformation tool, and you can see some places where the outline is skewed and bent awkwardly in spots. Also, the shoulders move very stiffly. I will have to re-evaluate how to structure the shoulders in the timeline.
There is expected to be another Woodpecker Power page upload to my Patreon before the end of April. The story is almost done, but I just gotta get the motivation up to finish it. You can read that and look at a ton more of my work at www.patreon.com/andrewkaiko !
