Description
Is is a companion piece with the Lark Portrait I did about two months ago. It turned out very well, but I still think it doesn't compare to the Lark piece.Related content

It lloks so real! I don't care where're you from! It is so cool! And at that expression, I think that's blue-jay for "Don't look at me!"

Oh, Roberto. You are such a sleaze but you are so photogenic. Go into politics.
Oh, I think this one is quite nice as well- you got the smooth-feathered look quite well and I like the cockeyed "I'm tough" expression on his face. At least that's how I interpret it. ^^

Hmm, those strong eyebrows do give him a certain latin character. /Or Leonid Brezhnev, if they were even stronger. /

Maybe it's the eyelids? There was some texture or figure lost in that area, I think.
Love the image, though.

I like it! If you had the time, I'd suggest doing one like this for all the Norm and Cory characters. Cos these are awesome to look at.

Well, as a character, I think Lark has more depth, so it's not surprising if her portrait does too. But I like this a lot. Amazing how expressive and individual you manage to make even his beak, while still keeping it beaky.

Now the challenge will be how I can develop Norm and Cory to that same level!

you draw so well I like the way you can get your pics realistic...yet cartoony at the same time
also the way you can get brus effects...it seems like it's rather thick looking paint that you used to make it touchable I can't really explain it but it's cool

your technical painting skill is admirable!

Companion peices, sequels, etc. etc.... they hardly ever measure up to the originals.
But this is still an awesome peice.

I believe the reason why it looks marginally less attractive is because this piece doesn't have quite the same depth to the eyes as Lark's portrait did. There's something flat about his pupils, perhaps because they're elongated or the yellow is too strong. Maybe even raise his 'cheekbone' a tad. The texture is amazing, though.

Oh no, It doesn't comapre... I mean, maybe I'm bias becuase Lark is just, well, LARK! And we luff her!
But i must say that I love the texture quality of teh feathers! I really have to try a realistic digital painting eventually. It looks like a lot of work, but crazy fun! XD

The feather texture here is as brilliant as the Lark portrait, but yeah, I see what you mean - it's marginally less attractive. It still has great character, though: the eyes in particular are gorgeous and very expressive. I love how sharp the figure is. It's particularly interesting in that it demonstrates how different you can make birds of the same species appear - well done!
