Description
What?...WHAT?!
Wipe that look off your face, or prepare for the consequences!
Any of you who have seen the film will get this inside joke. I don't know what it is with me and dressing up Norm in famous distingished comic roles- I guess I'm trying to find his character a bit more.
I kept as much of the style of the film as possible, using the Eyedrop tool to paste colors directly from screenshots onto here. I also used a background directly from the still.
Bugs and Daffy are (C) Warner Bros.
Norm is (C) 2004 Andrew Kaiko

I remember first seeing Looney Tunes: Back in Action somewhere around late 2010 on Netflix, and was the first live-action/traditional animated hybrid movie I saw until I saw Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Space Jam in respectively August and September 2016.
As much as they're okay, Looney Tunes: Back in Action will always be my favorite for years to come.

I know how that feels. You get attached to a movie because it's the first of something you ever seen, it doesn't matter if it was good or bad.

Unfortunately, Looney Toons Back in Action was a stale attempt and trying to bring back the old characters. The formula which works every time is the tried and tested one. Instead of trying to change things so fundermentally they should just do what they have always done. Exactly like what they have done with the recent and brilliant "Duck Dodgers in the 24½ Century", which was a return to form and what we need all along.

You must be referring to the backgrounds against the cartoon characters in Norm and Cory. I have no idea how my other artwork shows that, though.

They practically BASH you over the head with that bit of trivia in the trailers: and I quote, "WITH STEVE MARTIN AS THE HEAD OF THE ACME COMPANY, BENT ON TAKING OVER THE WORLD!" Yeah, that's REAL subtle!

I hate trailers.
They make everything seem dumber than they actually are! They're WORSE with comedies! A GOOD trailer should make you excited about a film without giving away too much of the good stuff!

The acting wasn't great. But I have a little admiration for Brendan Fraiser. That man tries SO HARD- he was the best in terms of interacting with animals that were never there on the set! As I've said, Steve Martin has great timing. Joan Cusack is her spacey self. The rest of the actors could've been better, and the animated characters sort of dominate the screen, unfortunately.

lol! I never saw the movie- it looked rather... meh... but this is just too cute. you did a great job, though I think if there had been a tad more cleanup it would look like a perfect screen shot. ^^' Bugs and Daffy look great.
It just occured to me now that your style is very "Loony Toonsish" but in a great way... more WB than Disney anyhoo... and it's wonderful.

No offense, but seriously: the Looney Tunes themselves were great, but I thought the the human acting and the whole script in general were terrible. Why do you think it didn't suck?

TVsKyle In reply to melissaduck [2004-05-18 03:31:14 +0000 UTC]
Of course the whole live action/animtion Roger-Rabbit-Wannabe thing has to go. It goes without saying. This film featured gobs and gobs of beautiful Eric Goldberg work which made me laugh. It made me laugh hard. The sucky aspects can't ruin the good stuff for me. I take my cartoony goodness where I can get it these days.

Yes, the animation was great. The Looney Tunes were great. I did laugh at their antics. I agree with you guys there.
But... the rest... stunk. It failed to come together. It seemed all over the place, and the human actors failed to give a convincing performance. Even Steve Martin's performance seemed way out of place... but maybe that was just the writing. (Surprisingly, I had no clue it was Steve Martin until much later on!) Roger Rabbit it ain't.

That WAS GOLDEN Eric Goldberg stuff! I think they wrote the story so the characters would go to all these places and do all these things that would give other Looney Tunes some screen time. Of course, that wasn't the best choice, but there were LOTS of places where I found myself laughing. It was just a lot of fun, so there you are!

Haven't seen it so I don't get the joke, but it's still funny. I can really see Norm taking on different "distinguished" roles like that. David Niven in the Pink Panther, Michael Caine in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels... etc. Actually come to think of it there are good roles for Cory in those two films too.
And wow, you really got Bugs and Daffy!

This role, Mr. Chairman of the Acme Company, was played by Steve Martin, and you almost NEVER recognize him throughout the film! He has excellent timing, though I thought he was channeling Dr. Evil way to obviously a few times.
And thanks for the compliment on the Bugs and Daffy drawings! These are some of the first guys I remember trying to draw as a kid!

Anything silly with Steve Martin is at least somewhat worthwhile... maybe I'll watch this thing, though "Space Jam" was awful.

andrewk In reply to Rayfan [2004-05-18 14:58:37 +0000 UTC]
This is MUCH BETTER than Space Jam! One clever thing they did when writing BIA is that they chose to write as though there WAS no Space Jam! Except for one three-second Micheal Jordan cameo with Daffy saying, "This doesn't make a lick of sense!"
