Description
This is something I just wanted to do on my spare time. It took a lot of hours away that I could've spent working, but it is worth it! Much of the animation is a bit rough around the edges, and the Flash compression really ruined the line quality, but I love the way the colors turned out!Dave: I may have mispronounced her name wrong. I know that in Spanish, you don't pronounce the H, so her name could be pronounced "ZAK-ka", instead of the "ch" sound.
Zacha is (C) Dave Alveraz

Real nice animation, it's refreshing to see something like this instead of the endless sea of lazy flashes out there...

Note that it may take a while, as the facilities I use to animate are in the dawn of being shut down for the summer, but I DO plan to use my lighttable as big as a laptop, and scan the drawings into the scanner one by one instead of taking an entire digital sequence. Just keep in mind that it may take longer than usual.

Very nice piece! The strongest part of this animation is the poses. You really pushed the gestures which gave the character a lot more personality.
As for the line quality.. I don't know flash very well so I'm not sure if it's due to the software.. But there seems to be a bit of line jitters here and there.. Especially in the head, and I always feel the head is the most important. I found the jitters happen the most during the walk into frame. Did you do this animation all straight-ahead? It seems like you did.. Finding a happy medium between straight ahead and pose to pose definately helps keep the character on model and from jittering in areas.
But the jitters are just small elements.. The overall animation played out well and I feel you utilized the character to the best of it's capabilities. Kudos!

It ain't Flash, even though the file itself is in a swf file. I imported a Quicktime of handdrawn animation into Flash and exported it from there, which is the reason for the compression.
I have to really focus more on the form and the acting, rather than skip ahead to the fine line clean-up. The opening walk cycle was pretty much the ONLY part of this that was done straight ahead, and it shows.

Well, doing straight ahead animation just requires a different mode of thinking is all. You have to expect whatever you're straight-ahead animating to be forever changing, so if it's a matter of staying on model or holding a certain facial expression, the best method to use would be keyframing. If I was going to do the walk as a straight ahead animation, I would add more movement to the head. Perhaps more of a sway or a bob, or perhaps having the character look about the stage and out at the audience or at the microphone.

The content wasn't my doing- the "story" is taken directly from one of Dave's strips. But thank you!
