My Great Grand Father was a WWI veteran
He was one of few Costa Rican soldiers who joined the fight in Europe, our country didnt declared war to Germany until 1917 but he took a ship back in 1915 and go to the USA and from there to France where he fought along with many other soldiers from different countrys

My great great grandfather Jessie Hyde was a cook in the army during the war. I dunno if he ever stood on French soil.
