BOOK TWO: NO HOLDING BACK, SSW VS. UW

Angel Falls Time, 3:30 pm, Wednesday

The dark sky almost made Vyr-Na think they were in outer-space again, but the rushing wind cleared her of that thought quickly. A quick glance revealed they were in a desert’s sky. The silhouette of triangular objects in the distance looked to be pyramids.

“Ha-ha! Giza!” she shouted before changing their course for the ancient tombs.

Soviet Superwoman was struggling now. Ultrawoman had a grip on each of her wrists and was keeping her from fighting back. The speed with which they were moving had so much air rushing past her ears she was disoriented.

“You can’t win!” she heard over the wind, “I’m stronger than you!”

One of her hands was suddenly free, but the heroine felt a fist connect with her cheek.

“I’m faster than you!”

Her other hand was freed, but this time a fist connected with her jaw.

“And I’m smarter than you!”

Ultrawoman shoved Olga and she collided with a dune, somersaulting a few hundred feet through the air before she was caught again in a vice-like grip on each wrist. The villainess assailing her swung her about the air at speeds that made the sound barrier groan. Sand swirled up into the air from below, whipping about them like a fantastic cyclone.

“I should have done this a long time ago!” Vyr-Na shouted into her face as the heroine struggled not to black out, “Now you see what happens when I don’t hold back!”

“Still… Weak…” Olga got out before planting her foot in her opponent’s belly and kicking hard.

It was enough. The hold was broken and the two were thrown from each other by the centrifugal force. She came to with sand cascading down upon her from the sky.

Before she could orient herself, however, Ultrawoman was back, slamming into her with enough force to send the dunes splashing away like waves. The sand tore more out of their uniforms and made their cuts burn. After half a mile, they slowed to a stop and Ultrawoman walloped her a few more times.

“You think you’re fed up with me? You think you’ve finally got the gumption to take me down!? You’re still a sniveling little kid as far as I’m concerned! You! Walkie! That little worm who’s filling your head with lies! None of you have the vision I have! None of you have seen the horrors the rest of this universe has in store for this tiny speck of a planet!”

“What are you-?” Olga barely gasped out before another fist slammed into her face.

“This world needs me in control! It needs me to guide it into the future! I will not watch these miserable ants tear each other apart over their petty squabbles!”

“You would be a terrible leader!” Olga shouted over her, deflecting the next strike and leveling one of her own to knock the villainess back, “You worked for Hitler in this universe? It makes sense, you psychotic sabachee! Only they would have strengthened your ideas of how the strong rule over all!”

Ultrawoman slapped her across the face, sending her spinning into the sand.

“Damn right, the strong rule over all. Soon enough, you’ll see.”

Olga pushed herself back up and turned deliberately slowly to level a glare at her enemy. Vyr-Na’s stance was surprisingly relaxed, however.

“To be honest, Russkie, you would think that I would have signed on with your favorite evil psycho bitch to take you down. But, honestly, she’s a thug. She’s smart, but at heart she’s still a thug. She has no real idea about the future, she just wants to deal with her enemies in the here and now.”

She smirked. It was unsettlingly friendly.

“To be honest, I’ve got much more respect for you and the Cow. Maybe once the world sees what my new toy can do and the nations’ leaders finally surrender their control to me, we can put all of this shit behind us and be friends.”

“I will never be friends with you!” the Superwoman shouted, her face contorting in rage, “You are a bad woman, Ultra! You seek to crush the world underfoot, threatening it with a weapon! What kind of leader do you expect to be, threatening innocent lives with that space gun!?”

“For the last fucking time, I’m not threatening anybody’s life!” Ultrawoman shouted back, some hurt entering her normally perfectly controlled voice, “What is wrong with all of you! Sure, I’ve done what many would call terrible things, but that’s only been to the people who were fucking with me! They had it coming! But I’m not going to go out of my way to murder some kid! I’m not going to wipe out civilians just because I can! Well, maybe I would, but still! It doesn’t mean that kid is right!”

Olga was at a loss for words. Her enemy had once again mentioned the young Blake and something he’d said.

“Kid?” she asked in confusion, “Ultrawoman… What are you talking about?”

“You don’t know?” the cruel woman asked in surprise, “Well, I may as well tell you, since you’re Hell-bent on trying to stop me, anyway. The weapon is a terraforming cannon. You probably don’t know what that means… Simply put, it changes a portion of the world from one condition to another. I have targeted a specific location, one that doesn’t have any people in it. It’s an old quarry. The region will be altered into a hideous blight. It will be a concentrated, controlled situation, not the world-spanning devastation the boy told your bitch that it would be. And once I’m done, the world will blah-blah-blah. I’m done repeating myself with that shit. You understand, right?”

“You would risk destroying every last person on the planet,” the raven-haired vixen said in shock, “Just so you can be in control?”

“I don’t even know why I bothered trying to convince you.”

Ultrawoman didn’t hesitate and hammered into the Soviet with an uppercut that caught the blade of the muscular woman’s jaw. Olga hurtled into the distance and Ultrawoman craned her neck to pop it before rolling her shoulders and levitating to watch her foe crash into one of the stone structures in the distance.

With a sudden thought, she turned to the portal controller. Removing it from where it rested on her hip, she was surprised the device was remarkably undamaged, despite all of the terrible fighting and destruction.

Still, something wasn’t right with it. It wasn’t responding as she pressed buttons. The indicator light was also glowing orange instead of its normal greenish hue. This was certainly not normal.

“I wonder if this has anything to do with my injuries?” she mused as she wiped some of the blood from her flesh, “Hm. Not mine… This one’s a bruise… This is definitely a cut…”

She continued muttering to herself like this as she floated across the desert, idly pressing buttons on the controller in the vain hope that it would activate, send her far away from here and leave the Soviet in the dust.

More great punching action, but also something very important to note, not just about UW, but any villain:

Nobody does evil things just for the sake of being evil. Somewhere, in their twisted minds, they're the HERO. It's a great tool to be able to get in your villain's head and understand why they do what they do.

Of course there are exceptions (I don't mean Ultra) who know they are bad and just love it

Okay, right now I am incredibly disturbed that people actually seem to be leaning in Ultra's direction right now. I mean, the story has done a great job of showing that in her own incredibly self-righteous and twisted mind Ultra is doing what she -thinks- is best, but seriously? It's just....gah! *facepalms* >.>;

It's the sex-appeal, isn't it? T_T

A bad person can make good points. Hell, a bad person can do the right things from time to time and we can hope maybe they can become good but in the meanwhile don't forget that they still are a bad person.

Well yeah. but all she's done is state a handfull of things that -might- be facts. The sheer obvious evil kind of eclipses any kind of grounds for debate that she might have had, hence why, unless I'm misunderstanding, I'm so shocked people are actually seriously listening to that woman >.>;

Wow! I HAVE mentioned in Hotrods poll that this fight will be brutal which it IS and I also mentioned that Olga would win the fight but just barely.
So far, U1tra is pummeling her but from what I`ve seen and read about Olga, She will take it to her once her healing kicks in U1tra fumbling with the teleport contoller will be just enough time for Olga to recover and pummel HER!
Awesome story and a great render throughout by megaween.

When two fighters are going at it all out and with such power the healing factor may not have time to work and eventually could even be shut down as more and more damage overwhelms it. It remains to be seen and this goes for the both of them.

That is true. U1tra is really doing a number on Olgas face and jaw at the moment but even a slight respite would at least start it up. But you`re right though, The damage she`s taking on her face is just enough to block it out. More than likely U1tra knows this. The same can be said for HER as well when Olga goes on the offensive.

From Ultra's standpoint of knowing she is correct but also knowing the other person will stop at nothing to stop you, what else are you going to do, and that's not even including the fact that you also hate her guts. As far as Ultra is concerned, SSW is the villain.

Levi-K-Whitney [2010-12-21 21:25:55 +0000 UTC]

I have to admit at this point I'm taking a few liberties with Ultrawoman's general motivation. I mean, I don't know if this can be perceived as "Well, this is just what she's saying NOW..." or if it's what she's actually going for.

I'm not trying for "Saturday Morning Cartoon" super villainy. I'm operating under the theory that NOBODY actually believes they're the bad guy in the situation. So, using Ultrawoman's published history, I'm left to assume that her major reason for wanting to take over the world is that she wants to protect it from Arion invasion (or other strange, aggressive extraterrestrial species). She is, after all, a Protector. She just has a peculiar view on how she should accomplish her task...

At least, that's how I'm looking at it. I'm trying to keep her behavior as maintaining the "I'm better than you" mentality.

andrewr255 In reply to Levi-K-Whitney [2010-12-22 06:13:04 +0000 UTC]

Even the idea that she wants to rule the world simply because she feels she can do a better job is along those same lines. It also allows us to more enjoy the villain as well because they're more real. Of course that doesn't mean we can enjoy the truly evil villain as well, but there needs to be variety in the villain population. It's great fun to see vast difference between Ultra and Ilsa. Now Mr. Black is another story...

Mr. Black is how I see true evil personified, that or he's my take on the cosmic horror genre. It's kind of hard to pin down the personality of a character designed from a recurring character in my nightmares.

It's a great read. I REALLY like it.

Definitely a battle for the ages.

Ultrawoman, methinks thou doest protest too much. It's almost like she' trying to talk herself out of doing what she was trying to do.

Reading this chapter makes me think that Olga is tiring while Ultra is still relatively fresh.

The controller is the key. But what is it? Gotta stay tuned!
