it looks some kind of weevil to me
don't stag beetles have large serrated mandibles?

um not always. it seems that the females of many types seem to not have the telltale mandibles. its not a weevil, i know that. I think its either in the scarab or stag family, but probably a female.

oh, yes of course, only males tend to be showy . i guess you're right, we don't have these either here. sorry
