This is a scene I've depicted from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale The Singing Soaring Lark. The version I have read has a good prince and princess as primary characters. The good prince turns is turned into a lion through unfortunate circumstances and the good princess spends a lot of time trying to find him and save him from the enchantment. At one point in the story she learns that the lion is fighting a dragon and can only defeat the dragon with her help so she attains a magical gryphon and arrives at the scene, helping the lion defeat the dragon. It turns out however that the dragon was actually an evil enchanted princess and this evil princess steals the gryphon and flys away with the good prince before the good princess can stop her.This stroy is very convoluted and I had a hard time depicting the scene. In the story the lion prince turns back into human form after the defeat of the dragon princess but I felt drawing him in human form would kind of make the story harder to recognize (not that it's a very popular fairy tale anyway but oh well) overall though I'm happy with the composition and how the Gryphon came out looking pretty dumb and frightened.

Simply astounding! I love the fact that you included the story from which this piece sprang, but to be honest, your drawing is so expressive that it' s a tale all on its own!
