Description While exploring a new area of beach in Carlsbad, I found these steps leading down to the beach built into the rocks and found it to be a really cool foreground for a nice California sunset Enjoy!

THIS is an example of HDR done CORRECTLY! Keeping the natural look of the scene while adding that artist touch. Nice work!

Thanks! Β That's actually just one shot using a GND filter.....not even HDR. Β I sometime bracket multiple photos and hand blend them though using layers and masks for real dynamic range, not computer generated garbage

That's actually a technique in HDR photography. HDR isn't just computer generated garbage, it's also restoring detail back in the highlights and shadows of the photo to make it look as natural as possible as if our own eyes were actually there viewing the scene. Β Again I say, very well done!

Thanks Β It is technically....I just don't like the software programs that put them together and create a bunch of halos and un-natural looking scenes. Β I manually blend for increased dynamic range, but not to alter anything if that makes sense

It makes perfect sense, because that's exactly what I do! Β I personally cannot stand those unnatural halos around objects! Β If it's not there when I took the shot, it won't be there when I upload the photo unless otherwise stated.Β

True that Β I used to go overboard with HDR and now it makes cringe!

Beautiful! Have you been to the Self Realization Meditation Gardens in Encinitas? it's beautiful! I am hoping to stop by there and La Jolla next month before I move to England.
