ForThere's something about Chandra's characters that bring out the badass in me. This is the 2nd time she's commissioned me to draw her characters, the first one being here. [link]
Chandra's a writist by the way, a good one too. We talk a lot by email about LA and 'the business' and contracts and all that good stuff but also we talk about... men. Specifically girly anime men drawn by girls who probably havn't met any boys other than their younger brother yet and inevitably draw them like flat chested girls. Flat chested girls with swords and guns. Well that's fine for a time. Actually, no it's not, it's a disease and you should all get over it because farrrrrrr too many good leading male characters get prettied up on DA by superfangirls that don't know what a real guy looks like and who need to STOP CASTRATING MY HEROES.
So with that being said, here's Chandra's Valentine.
Notes on the city in the BG: being someone with design and film experience I feel that every time you show a city onscreen you are stepping into the ring with Ridley Scott and Bladerunner. I don't think I've got anywhere near 'my' Bladerunner yet but this is about as close as I'm going to get to 'my' Super-LA for now.
This deviation was made with pencils, plasters, blisters, late night scotch, Michael Mann movies and the original Knight Rider score.

you should! Spike is pure badass!! I just bought the complete collection of Cowboy Bebop yesterday, I'm watching it now. best anime ever!! I'm also planning a fanart of it, but from the looks of your gallery you'd do it more justice then I could.

Mega Drill BREAKER!!!!! or something like that lol, Gurren Lagenn is ok but other than FLCL I'm not really into mecha. as for best anime I dont watch many but for me its a tie between Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.

See everybody says Bebop immediately and it DOES have the best score, Champloo is also cool as fu** but for me Gurren beats them all in overall story...and it's totally inspiring. I do love FLCL though. Actually I love Gunbuster 1 and 2 too so pretty much everything Gainax does haha

lol, I guess to each his own. I agree Gurenn does have a good story, but Cowboy Bebop is just more my style. and like you siad it was ranked best anime of all time, I think the only anime that beat it or came close to beating it was Neon Genesis Evangelion, I've never watched it but I plan to

Gunbuster is pretty old now like 20 years I think and it does look fairly dated but it's still an awesome film. Gunbuster 2 is much more recent and it's basically space opera but in an FLCL style. I love it but you do need to see the first one to understand it. Bebop has styles for miles and the mix up of genres works a lot better there with westerns and space than Champloo's hip-hop and samurai because it's a more believable fantasy... it's sci-fi so anything can happen. I love Champloo but sometimes it just doesn't quite click. I love all the Ghost in The Shell stuff... the movies are amazing and the series is so much fun. They nail that cop-show feel so well and have some really great stand alone stories.
Evangellion is amazing. I always forget about it cause it's kind of taken as a given in any countdown, if you know what I mean. It's maybe not as entertaining as Bebop because it is often pretty harsh viewing but the scope of it and what it did for anime as a whole I think puts it right up there above most things. Although, there are a few too many fangirls out there that think it's more complicated than it really is lol

agreed Champloo is awesome but the hip-hop/samuria theme was a bit wierd of a crossover but I think they pulled it off. however, no one does a good crossover like Bebop they just did it perfectly there western/space/jazz and blues mix was.....well, perfect! maybe I'll give Gunbuster a chance idk. as far as anime films go I gotta give it to a three way tie between Akira, Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirited Away

nice, i agree with the sentiments expressed in the description. i hate seeing a drawing of a hot girl and reading the artist describe how cute "he" is. it creates all kinds of mixed feelings LOL

Can I just point out any artist who draws gorgeous masculine men deserves a DD for it? Especially when that artist wears a TIE at 1 AM so he can get the look right.
This is a thing of perfects which, like the Shiro, nicely balances all the times the female characters remark how pretty their male leads are.
We can do it again anytime. I mean it. (Cuz Hell if you're up for a challenge, let's talk about Ariake.

Awr man, I'm so torn on Bape now. I've literally wanted some for 10 years since the first UNKLE album came out but now it's like a 'hip-hop' thing to do it's not the same. I still do want a windbreaker in the traditional green cammo though, those are timeless.
