HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO FUCKING LATE *SCREECHES*So some time ago the amazing Gypsy-Meadow asked me to do an art trade with them and they gave me a list of characters to choose from and draw. I saw this pony and I thought to myself "holy fucking shit this is one beautiful ass horse, I MUST draw it" but you see I din't want to do just a regular digital drawing, no, I wanted to give this pony a special treatment and do a watercolor painting because it would fit perfectly.
I'm still a rookie when it comes with watercolors so I decided to prep and do some watercolor doodles and some requests until I financially found a technique that I could paint with and achieve a nice effect.
I wanted this piece to be absolutely perfect.
The thing is that my room and basically my house has the shittiest lighting ever, so I have to paint during the day so that I can use the natural lighting...
I'm nocturnal.
So this takes a while and then I finally finish, and I'm quite proud of it, but now I have to photograph it to upload it....
I must have photograph this piece so much that it wasn't even funny. The colors are pastel so they have a harder time showing up on camera and the weather kept being shitty so the lighting was always off, and even with some photoshop editing the piece looked off.
In short I found an image were it looks decent enough that I can post it, its not the best in my eyes but it gives the piece enough justice.
I really like this character and they were super fun to draw, and even though this is hella late I hope you like it G.

This really lightened my mood for this week and for that I'm so unbelievably thankful for you. The effort you put in this piece really shows and I'm.. Goodness.. I have no words. I'm so happy you decided to draw her?? She's one of my utmost favorite characters and just... You did her more than justice..

Watercolors are actually pretty fun and really easy to get into compared to some other paints. The only problem I had was the shit lighting in my house lol.

I completely feel you my dude, my hands are shaky as hell! But I've been finding that with some practice they are getting better actually. Especially if I don't worry too much about fucking up.
I do highly recommend watercolors though, since you are painting with basically water it's very forgiving and I find it quite relaxing personally. And if you wanted you don't have to line the piece just paint over the sketch.

Yeah that's the best way to practice. If you do small doodles you don't worry about it being absolutely perfect because it's just a doodle

Yeah I feel you, I'm a bit of a perfectionist myself so sometimes I tend to work on stuff more than I have to. Patience is a thing I had to learn and has helped in being more calm.
Also observational drawings help a lot with improving overall artistic skills.

and once i found a site thing that has these images and a timer thingy so you can train your sketches and all
it looks pretty useful but i didnt use it yet XD
