I could have spent a lot longer trying to perfect all the background elements, but I finally just had to let it go. I feel like it's a bit too glowy and I'd love to do more with the dragon; I haven't painted a dragon in a long time and I really like them. The stuff in the background is supposed to be blue fire, but I don't think I conveyed that very well. I think I spent more time adjusting stuff in this piece than actually painting it. Anyway, whatever, here it is.Related content

Very cool! But- in some places the shading is too dark and not very well blended. I think making the dragon's head bigger would've helped the contrast, and given the swirl dynamic a bit more flare. However, the highlights are very tasteful and well placed -BUT- the background is a tad distracting, as it pulls away from the character. Add more colors in her (like red, yellow, especially complimentary colors) to help her stand out.

The first thing that really pulled me in is the flow and the glow.
The blue glow in this piece is really beautiful and holds all elements together.
The dragon is well drawn. Nice work on the scales and the head. The see true back scales could use a little texture.
The position of the dragon fits very well in the movement you created in the back.
They both have a blue glaze in there eyes and that connects them even more. Giving them an iris would lock them even more in this moment.

It looks awesome! I like the background, kinda like a mix of blue fire and lightning. Makes me think of Azula from Avatar. And the dragon is a cool design! Makes me want to pet it. ^_^
