Description Some new rocks and minerals for my collection. Went on a wonderful trip through Jerome and Sedona, Arizona for Thanksgiving with my step-mom and twin sister, who are also huge rock hounds!
This is what I brought home: Pink Tourmaline in Aquamarine matrix, Ruby Zoisite, Rainbow Moonstone, Hemimorphite, Prehnite, Blue Aragonite, Merlinite, Ammonite, Pietersite, Ametrine, Iolite, Blue Apetite, Hiddenite, and Larimar.

Thanks Arico-samaa! It was one of my favorite pieces I got that day, the picture doesn't even do it justice, there is so much fire in it. It was so inexpensive too!

Those are some pretty additions. I still want to get a few of those myself, especially the (opalescent) Ammonite, I've never found one I liked for a price I liked.

I did really good this "rock hunt". My sister and step-mom were with me, and I made them help me not get anything crystal quartz, which is my weakness, hehe. Besides the moonstone, every other stone was something I did not have, so I was really happy. The ammonite is so much prettier in person, the fire in it is just awesome! My step-mom got one too, I got the better one though. When I find a rock/mineral/fossil I want to get, I will line up all they have available in the shop and really pick out the nicest one, haha. My ammonite is about the size of a half-dollar piece, and I was lucky enough to get it for $3.95.

That's an amazing price! I've seen a few I like but I like the larger ones so they're naturally going to be more expensive. The cheapest one I found that I was considering was almost 40 and I had a 100 budget and needed other stuff -material for work always seems to get too much attention when I'm rock shopping.. I need to start collecting more for myself (-HA!). I have very little quartz, actually, and several of those were freebies when I ordered stone by weight. I'm doing a crafts fair thing this weekend and I'm bringing all of my miss-fit stones and freebies.

I love larger specimens myself, but my budget usually never allows for that, though I do have a few which I have obtained through some nice trades. I don't mind having the smaller pieces though, as I can buy more, and I love making little grids for myself on my work table or desk, to have near me all week. Or I have a few offering bowls, that I will pick and choose the pieces that stand out to me and have them near me as well, or around the house
