Description
I draw this barn owl in this way because in Italy there are a lot of legends about him; some are very funny, other paint him like an irish Banshee, but all agree on one thing: barn owl is the barn ghost, probably because of his strange scream...However I love barn owls, I'm happy to discover that a couple of them nest near my home, in an abandoned hayloft, also with one or two couples of horned owls and a lot of bats! We're going to have a Summer without mosquitoes!
Done on black paperwith withe, yellow and burnt sienna pencils and acrilyc Uniposca

Oh wow, I love this!! It's simple but detailed, soft but very spectacular!
I mean, it's a big challenge to draw something so intense like this without many lines. Congrats!!
Have to mention, barn owls ARE my favorite owls of them all! ^^
I've loved them my entire life and this pic really makes justice for them! <33

You're the most welcome!
Oh wow, that's great to know! I'm truly looking forward your becoming artworks! And awwww... I really wish I could see some
barn owls in real life but they're VERY rare here in Finland, unfortunately. Luckily we have some other beautiful owl-species here,
like this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boreal_o… ;

Awww! How tender are this fluffy and cute plush of feathers!!!
Don't worry, seeing barn owls is very difficult: I can see them only in late night and when there are anyone ( sometimes I cannot sleep and in summer I have windows open on field, so, if I'm really, really really lucky, I can see one of them flying as a white spot on dark trees... Only one time I see the couple...) I prefer not going often where they live: too interest by humans can create fear in so shy creatures!!! However theyr scream is unique and I can listen them calling each other and reassure theyr chicks!!!
horned owls are more curious, so is possible that they can came in gardens, expecially if they know that can find lizards or little mice...

Oh yeah, they are so wary animals and I think that's just a good thing, though. And, have to say, you're still pretty lucky to live such a near those beautiful creatures and to be able to observe them without disturbing them! Hopefully that couple near to your house raises many strong, beautiful babies this year.

What a unique selection of mediums you chose! Drawing on black paper certainly sounds interesting and the finished result is quite striking - definitely ghost-like.
I love barn owls too, they have such sweet faces. How lucky that you can observe them so close! I guess the Australian equivalent would be... hmm... a cockatoo maybe? They have a really grating screech, but thankfully only during the day. XD They hang out in my tree at the back of the house eating gum nuts.

Thanks a lot! In Italy owl barns are also called barn/hayloft ghosts, so I just wanted to represent one!
Awww! I love cockatoo and parrots in general! They're so funny! and also blatant and gaudy.... I don't know if having them outside in garden is blessing or damn... I do not know why, but I think they can sometimes be really noisy and unpleasant neighbours! XD
However I read that wild parrots can be a little bit destructive.... We have similar problems with crows and magpies...

Haha yes, parrots are cheeky and charming but a real handful - I don't think I have the patience to own one, especially with voices like theirs. O__O I just live vicariously through YouTube clips showcasing funny birds, like one with a cockatoo who kicks down block towers just coz he can. XD So gangster!

Great! I love destructive animals!!! More gaudy they are, more personality they have, I think! In fact I have two of them: the dog had destroyed three duvets and a handmade wool blancket, and the horse.... let me fly everywhere in fields!!! XD

Haha yes, there are some animals that just can't be trusted with nice things! Luckily my doggy is getting on in her years so she's not interested in chewing much anymore - I just got her two new memory foam beds, and they're holding up fine. ^__^;; I do have three naughty hermit crabs though who like digging holes in their tank and hiding smelly food. Some salmon went missing from their bowl last night and I'll probably come across it fermenting somewhere in another two month's time...

GREAT!!! I totally loose the control of bed....: my dog isn't big, but very possessive,expecially with beds!
I do not know that hermit crabs can be pets!!! strange animals are crabs, with horrible habits!
I've had water turtles, but they remained at my home only for some weeks... also they were carnivorous and were used to hide theyr food! Good luck with salmon: I hope you can find it before it starts to stink too much!Something similar occurs to me, but it was the responsibility of the dog, that for only one time he tryed to steal a salami and we found it hidden under a freezer!!!

Hee hee yes, hermit crabs can be pets but their needs are similar to reptiles, so they need a substantial set-up (heater, humidity, sand, salt water etc) I don't interact with them much so that I don't stress them out, but I do love watching their antics - hermit crabs will climb anything and everything, no matter how impossible it looks!
I never did find that salmon. -____-;; They also stole coconut from their food bowl and that's hidden somewhere too. Hopefully it all wound up in their tummies! Haha your doggie sure picked a funny hiding place. XD When she was younger my dog would bury bones and then forget where she hid them, so I'd have to walk around with a spade every week and dig for them... not pretty!

Wanderful! I don't know that hermits are so active animals! I don't know a lot about crabs in general, except for something I can observe on seaside, but is really a little...
I'm sorry for salmon and coconut: hermits are really thieves!XD
About dogs.... A friend of mine have had a German Shepherd that every times she planted tulip bulbs, the dog digged out all them and placed bulbs in a row, just in front of doorstep....For all dog's life they did this things,that became a sort of play.....

Our Australian species are nicknamed "Crazy crabs" due to their energy, though mine have slowed down a bit due to it being Winter. Come Summer though, I'll be finding them hanging upside down from the top of the tank again. (And who knows what else!!)
Clever dog! Mine just chases flies. -___-;;

OMG! Finding crabs hanging from the top of tank is great, and not so impossible: animals can do everything!!! I remember one that occurs to me and a friend, who is Vet: looking at my horse free in the paddock, as soon as she said: "Horses can not kicking sideway because they do not have a particular tendon...", my horse started to bucking with his back legs opened as a frog, one aimed to left and one to right.... just for annoing her, I think...
Having a dog that only catches fly is fantastic!!! No damaged items, no destroyed blanckets or pillows, no stolen food and mostly no bills and big paper money eaten!
