Race Battle!
I like to imagine that Adrian and Collin met in the forest while they were tracking small Pokémon. Adrian noticed that Collin was travelling on one of those cool Unova Pokémon that he had just gotten back from studying. Since Scolipedes are known for their speed, and his own Deerling was quick on her feet, a race battle was clearly in order.
