Description
Here's something interesting. Back in school (before I even knew about Super Sentai), I used to imagine my younger brother, Sam, as a gold SPD power ranger. Then, I learned that there was actually an unadapted gold ranger from Dekaranger.Despite the reality, I decided to keep the idea. The story is, he's my brother from an alternate reality (like Omega is from the real future), and was sent to help me and the other SPD Rangers (the team consists of my real friends).
Enjoy!

Dekaranger, DekaGold © Toei Ltd.

Edit/Update 07/04/12: Inserted a profile pic that fits better, I put him in an S.P.D. staff uniform. Also, I fixed the X on the chest to look more real.
Edit/Update 9/15/12: Made some touch-ups. Made the hands and silver parts more visible. Gave him DekaGold's actual blaster.

Best I can tell, DekaGold was probably meant to be a joke on what was starting to turn into a cruel running gag in the Kamen Rider movies, introducing a female Rider, only to kill her off before the end of the movie. So DekaGold is killed off before she can even finish transforming.

I actually never knew about that (I don't really watch Kamen Rider that much). But, that's actually a good point. You might be kinda right.

You should watch Kamen Rider, it's awesome.
It's the only reason I can think of for the character's existence.

The main reason I don't watch it, is because it hasn't been adapted in America very much. Saban did it once in the 90s with Masked Rider, but just that once. And, Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight is 1-hard to find, 2-didn't last very long, and 3-doesn't seem to be very popular (I like it, I just haven't seen much of it spoken of).
I'd watch Kamen Rider more, if it was adapted at least almost as much as Super Sentai has been. Then, I'd be able to enjoy it. English subtitles over Japanese dialogue just doesn't really do it for me as much (except for Akibaranger).

Ah yes, the big obstacle for people getting in to foreign works; subtitles. They don't bother me, but I can see how it can be hard for other people. Though if you're looking for something kinda like Akibaranger, I suggest you go find Kamen Rider Den-O; easily available on YouTube, and doesn't take itself seriously at all.

The fact that it didn't take itself seriously isn't really what I liked about it. I more liked the fact that it was a band of super-fanatics getting a chance (or near-chance) at having their dreams come true. Also, I'm kinda one for references, returns of veterans, and stuff like that.

I see you and I liked Akibaranger for different reasons; for me, it was kind of like seeing a Japanese version of The Tick, a completely off-the-wall parody of superheroes, done with affection for the genre, so they know what's best to strike. Most of the heroes and villains were pathetic losers, and the show knew it and ran with it, with plots like a monster kidnapping girls just to ogle at them even though he's gay, AkibaRed representing overly-touchy Sentai fans' feelings about Power Rangers, and them getting their powers from toys slapped together are the sorts of things that stick out to me. I have a feeling that if I were part of a group writing a hypothetical season of Akibarangers, my contributions would play up how pathetic everyone was, with things like starting the season with the Rangers still dead, and the villains just sitting at home watching soap operas with no superheroes to fight; or a story where Nobuo or Yumeria's parents come to visit and they have to deal with the fact that this is how their years of parenting are rewarded.

Yeah, I can see how plots like those would stick out. And, the second thing you said sounds pretty fitting. Except, it would work better with Nobuo's parents, since Yumeria's mom is dead and was a cosplayer, and her mother-in-law is also a Sentai otaku. But, Nobuo's parents, I bet they'd freak.
Also, have you ever imagined what it would be like if Akibaranger was adapted into America? Like, a Power Rangers show not for kids, and airs on an adult channel, like G4 or something. Imagine what it would be like.

I can see his dad thinking "This is it. This is where my family's bloodline stops forever," BEFORE he sees his son's costume.
I imagined it would probably be similar, three nerds getting superpowers from sheer delusion; they'd probably be more obnoxious as American otakus, actually.

That would totally be a blood-pumping near-miss. Finding out his son is dead, but not until way later on, finds that his son died a hero.
Yeah, I bet they would be. It seems there are just as much (if not more) crazy media-fanatics in the USA, with some (if not most) more obsessed than Japanese.
Y'know, I once actually started thinking up my own Power Rangers version of Akibaranger. In it, Red already knows Yellow, they're fans of an English dub of Z-Cune Aoi, under an anglicized title, their names are similar to the names of Power Rangers who were their color (a way of adapting the "Kanji for [the color] in their name"), and they didn't die in the end (Instead, Hiroyo's counterpart gets the idea of doing the opposite of what she's doing, which is making the "suicide victory flag" stronger, and tell them it's the only way, to make it end with a happy victory). Sound cool?

I meant more from shame than grief. This would be after the Akibarangers come back from the dead because Toei made a third season.
I think it would work better if it ends the same way. It'd be like changing the ending to Panty and Stocking, and kind of ruin it.

Oh, yeah, that's what I meant. He starts out super-ashamed, but then he finds out the truth. Maybe for a third season, they could make it like it's happening from how it left off. Like, they all still know that they live in a TV show, that they're being view by TV audiences, and that Hatte Saburo created them and helped them. Y'know, rather than retconning to start over.
Oh okay, I can understand how you feel that way. Lots of people don't like endings being altered. But, the rest sounds cool, right?

Even after that, it shouldn't be a switch from "Embarrassed" to "Proud"; he'll still find himself sighing and wondering where he went wrong. Like, when he discovers that Nobuo gets his super mode from his waifu, I can see that happening.
Well, given that my idea for a season opener starts with the villains showing up at Toei's headquarters to try and get a new season, we could go with that.
I suppose so.

Yeah, he would still be sighing. Maybe he'd just become embarrassed in a different way. Definitely after seeing how the super-mode came from a fictional idol.
You didn't mention the villains going to Toei to try to get another season. But, that would be something, probably more fun than just sittin' and watchin' nothing that's good, especially for the villains.

I was going more form how, in Japanese culture, the kinds of guys who have "waifus" tend to be looked down upon as pond scum; "otaku" is NOT a positive word in Japan at all. That's why I came up with this idea.
That'd be after they snap; after weeks/months without the Akibarangers to fight, the villains are at this low point, then they can't take it anymore and storm Toei's headquarters, and are prepared to cry and beg to get Akibaranger back on the air. The writers tell them they're working on it. When Malshina and New Villain (He hasn't had the chance to introduce himself yet) hear their voices, they gleefully draw weapons and charge towards their enemies, and that'd be where episode one ends.

Yeah, I heard about that. It's here in America, that "otaku" simply means "geek".
Hehehe, yeah. The villains crying and begging actually fits for Akibaranger's bad guys. They all really are pathetic, even Malshina to a certain extent. And, do you mean they charge towards their enemies as in, against the other bad guys, or the writers of Toei?
Anyway, it actually sounds like a cool idea.

I meant the Akibarangers. I figure by this point in time they've got the same sort of relationship Team Venture and the Monarch's forces have with each other; they want to kill each other, but at other times they're pretty much the only friends each other's got.

The Venture Bros, if you haven't seen that show, watch it. It's sort of like Akibaranger, only for Jonny Quest-type shows from the 60's.

Yes, DekaGold was a girl. But, as it says in the description, I made up this idea before I knew that Power Rangers is really based on a Japanese show (Super Sentai).
