I have never in my life seen a caterpillar so big or a moth so beautiful. I'm tempted to go and retrieve him so I can see it, but I'll be nice and leave him be! I really am intruiged now though...

Thankyou for your comment I have had about 20 Elephant Hawk Moths in my garden moth trap in one night, this one posed for me well. Its quite a common Hawk Moth.
