Description
"L.A. After Sunset"On the last day of January 2008, I hiked by myself in Griffith Park to the top of Glendale Peak, a two hour round trip. It was windy and the slightest breeze kept ruining the time exposure by moving the camera. I blocked the wind and caught L.A. After Sunset.

You have to wait for a windy night to get a view like this.
Thanks for the fave!

That's pretty much the effect I wanted to achieve. I have a life-long love and admiration of skyscrapers. I wanted to show my love of them with this photo.

Yeah. You'd need goggles at night. heh heh. Well, I got the effect by giving it a time exposure of 15 seconds when 10 would have captured it as it appeared to my eyes.

Ya i can almost see ya swearing, re-adjusting the camera.. You know bro I used to do all this art with brush, penicl and bitch and complain about the little mistakes and innaccuricies. Then id look at photography and say to myself...OOoOoo this is SOoooo much easier.. Then the more time i pour into this infernal device from satan, begin to realize the camera is a liar..That basterd lies like a druken sailor to women at some foreign countries bar. ya shoot a pic, you look at what your looking at, then you look at what the camera took, and your like WTF! That not it at all! First it interpets the color wrong like its at a greatful dead concert dropping acid, Oo but then no matter
how hard ya adjust things the lighting always snark up, sometime its even looks good on the small screen ya get home and its complete trash. I dont know how other people do it, perhaps there genius, people born with camera's in there litttle wee baby hands. Iv handed my camera to people who dont know shit about camera's, and some how even they take better pics then me!
much swearing follows...After reading 14 books on the subject. I only recently learned about using color coded cards as part of the picture as a mock for light interpation later(that peice of information costed me over 450$!!). Alas after hundreds of pics most of it still looks like trash. So i learned my lesson, if it looks easy its means its exstremely difficult, and there are some very smart and talented people somewhere laughing at me.

Your detailed comment was insightful and also very funny. It's funny because how you see the camera is how I see working with fractals. I've tried it and threw it out the window. It was maddening. I don't see how you do it!

Bah fractals are all gimicks, good gradients, and a ton of luck. Yes there some skill involved, but im not to that level yet, beyond importing my fractals into photoshop and erasing, touching up a bit. THe big secret is ya need somone like me to call ya up at home. I got free long distance. I should probebly have ya send me your adrress and email you all my formula's for both uf and apo. Then i walk ya through some basics. In a couple hours youll be making some nice stuff. I know this works cause iv done this now with 16 people and all of them got the daily. and DAMN IT there all became better artist then me. Guess that makes me two things. Im a shitty artist who is a really good teacher. An even better teacher who really got me to turn from a shit button pusher to a semi fractal artist is Janet Parker. Her classes are like 25-35 bucks a semister. Its all really well laid out, challenging, youd love the class bro. Cant beat that price for somones attension for 2-3 months. Lately iv thought of starting in her basic class, starting from ground one again, and this time make sure i consistantly take her classes all the way to the end. After you complete her classes there another guy who actually teaches you how to program your own formula for UF how cool is that?!

It's hard to believe it's all luck. Some people produce some very good looking fractals while people produce mediocre and boring ones!
I appreciate the offer to learn how to make fractals, but I don't have the time. Today I just got a new Nikon D300 and need to become proficient in it within 6 weeks. I'll be taking it to Egypt with me for a shoot.
Your offer is very very nice. Thank you much
