Description Eh. I actually made this for craftster , where somebody asked for a tutorial on a fabric wallet I sewed. So I made one.

Don't really know why I'm posting it on dA too. Maybe I'm just proud of my illustrations.

I noticed some mistakes already, the second last picture (with the red stitches) doesn't have stitches around the zippered pocket pieces, unlike the almost-alike illustration above it. And, the final purse is supposed to have the grain running vertically, and not horizontally like in my last illustration. Oh well.

Hey, thanks. What do you mean by sending you a pattern? All the details are in the tutorial, you just have to cut the fabric to the measurements and follow the instructions.

oh cool. might make one for my boyfriend. because his wallet has worn off. haha. only if turns out to be good, of course. excellent, excellent tutorial, aneesah. Thank you.

and do have any idea whre to get this type of fabric in selangor?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aneesah In reply to artlov3r [2008-02-06 02:02:44 +0000 UTC]

Seriously no idea about the fabric. Malaysia's just not very good with thick wintery fabrics. (Nor things like t-shirt knit and a bunch of other stuff.) You could always steal the fabric if you have a pair of old corduroy pants or something, though.

But the good news is -- this could work with any fabric, really. If you think it's too thin, there's this stuff called fusible interfacing (commonly found on shirt collars and cuffs) that you can iron on fabric to make it stiffer.

My wallets are really important to me, because they go wherever I go. But most of the times, my wallets get beaten up from being used so much (hiking with it in my back pocket and yadda-yadda). It costs me tons to buy new wallets, one after another, and so I'm glad I came across this tutorial. Maybe this will be more interesting, too, because it'll be a custome-made wallet! Thanks for the tutorial!

aneesah In reply to Mischavie [2008-01-24 16:14:41 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome! I have to say handmade wallets probably don't last as long as store-bought ones, but I think it's perfectly fine, 'cause you can just go ahead and make another one.

Good luck!

'Cause there was only purple and off-white fabric in my mother's fabric stash.

I don't mind purple, lighter shades are especially prettier.

You can take fabric from your old pants or something, I've done that before. (Mostly because the kain is tough and durable.)

Thanks!
